Your guess is as good as anyone elses as only Asus knows the answer to that one . Atleast this is Asus so hopefully it will get driver updates which im sure it will or hopefully someone will figure it out on the side and mod them . Im working with someone now that hopefully can help but wont know if this person can do it , so its a waiting game for the moment.

9.4 will be the first version driver release since ATI dropped active monthly support for the older cards in order to focus on their newer cards.

If only that were true...... *sigh*

New Xpac, engine update and better graphics = Northrend can put it to a system at high resolutions, especially in raids and cluttered areas.

WoW can get real ugly to the eye at low settings. I like max effects, max terrain, and if possible max AA/AF at native resolutions.

Shadows off, because Blizzard needs to fix them asap. As of now, they bring most systems to their knees.

My desktop with a GTX280 (albeit on a 30" 2560x1600 w/ a Quad Q9650 @ 3.6ghz) can hit chunky spots real fast and that's with Shadows off, and no AA/AF. I routinely drop down to sub 30fps in open areas in Northrend.

    So Dual 4850++'s on a QX9300 but at 1920x1080 should be a nice sweet spot I'm hoping (or better on let's say a M98 or 1680x1050 on a GTX280M via NP5797)

I take a lot of mini trips and vacation in there to boot. I also like to lounge in front of the TV in a recliner. I'd like a laptop that can present WoW at native resolution, maxxed out on all fronts (except Shadows), with AA/AF pumped up to max and have it give me consistent 40+ fps everywhere.

You have to make sure to have the Northrend expansion installed. Stock WoW and TBC use the older engine and just overall don't push the hardware as hard.

    Install WotlK Xpac
    Go to Northrend
Enable everything @ 1920x1080 or higher, max AA/AF

My framerates are still wicked in TBC and especially in the original. WotlK? Ouch. Sure is purdy, though. :)

    M98
    NP5797
Whitebook II (This time is won't be DC'd)

and get back in here. ;)

Yeah, that's the original stuff. I never really had problems with that (even back with my 6800 and subsequent cards). I was even able to raid in TBC on my 7811 no problems with basically everything pumped up.

It is the new Xpac, new graphics and new engine update and Northrend that is causing some hurt. :)

I'm going to have to pull the trigger on a new machine newer rather than later. Forgot I have some trips planned for June (Wedding along with one of them) along with July, August and the big month in Sept, so I need to have a machine lined up and ready to go by Mid May now instead of Mid June, grrr....

For looks? no not at all, there are only 1 or 2 things DX10 has that DX9 does not have and you can add them in with custom configs.

Im at work, I am setup, I got FRAPS, so gonna start benching some stuff.

Hello everyone! I'm new to these boards as far as posting goes but have been a longtime reader. I was one of the lucky s to get an order in on Newegg today. I have been watching and refreshing that stupid page for days now and was finally notified by there auto-notification service literally as I was about to send some money to Xotic PC's. I really wanted the X1 version however so I jumped when I saw the newegg notification. I next-day air'd it so I should be in gaming heaven shortly. Good luck to everyone waiting on one of these beasts!

If I did get a W90Vp, the X1 version is a waste for me:

    A> NJ Sales Tax 7% = $153.93 = 2352.93 (vs. $2419 for the A1, save $66.07 (!))

B> T9600 vs. Q9000. Either would get yanked for a QX9300 since I have one OEM on hand (2 soon from a dropped HDX18T most likely). Resale value of either chip is roughly the same via eBay and T9600 is due for a big price slice in a month or so.

C> I then end up with a unit for $66 more that has an extra HD and a BR player.

With my new time tables and trips in June, everything is pushed up a month+. What are the time tables on the M98 and D900F? Right now, it's down to the W90Vp and the NP5797 as they are actually here (or almost here).

Quad is your DMC4 options locking you at 59hz??

For some reason mine is 59hz and I can not change it.

Other than that here are the first benchmarks.

Yes sir locked at 59 or so it says in the game options . it seems capcom games are like that, as Lost planet says the same thing 59hz. They both use the same engine so that could be part of it as well .

Also did you see a line or any kind of flicker/tearing at one point? I saw it once or twice and I think its due to the refresh rate. id lock it with vsync while gaming though just not while benching.

I know, watching it really makes me want to play the game though :p the benchmark is more fun than the game is lol. Atleast it was for me because I was dying when I played and trying so hard to get points to unlock the cool stuff.

I edited the above, I have the 2.3ghz and 2ghz test for no AA and 8x AA its safe to say there is no cpu limitation in DMC4 as the scores were almost equal for both sets of tests.

I'll go do a DX9 run next maxed out just to see what DX9 vs DX10 is like and consider DMC4 done.

    3dmark06 12771

Lower than the X1 but I already knew it would be and expected it. 3dmark06 is an old benchmark and runs at a low resolution 1280x1024 puts a lot of work on the cpu, as seen in the previous real life benchmarks for gaming, there has not been a game yet that the 2.3ghz quad core could not keep up with.

Cant let that 18" HD screen & 5 speaker surround go to waist now can we?

Maybe somebody thought this ahead, have you noticed how the screen does not have a bezel around it but rather the entire inside lid is just one piece of glass for easy cleaning? lol

Though I am just joking, I did appreciate that fact when I noticed it the other day, I am a really picky person when it comes to having a clean screen & laptop and getting the dust out of the edge of the screen where the bezel is was a pain in my old laptops.

so it looks like i might air blow some of the dust off..lol

Ok, so I am tired of waiting on trying to get the NewEgg model, so I will be ordering from Xotic tonight (morning for all of you). I have a couple questions though about processors hopefully someone can answer. What is the difference between the T9550 and the P9600 other than power? Or more to the point, which is better for gaming? If I were to go for the T9800, what is the max overclock (Asus version) I can get? I know the QX9300 was capped at 5% but the T9600 from NewEgg was 15%. I guess if I can only OC the T9800 5% and I can run the P9600/T9550 at 15%, I may as well spend less since the clock speeds will pretty much OC to the same. Let me say this: I plan to get a QX9300 or better when I return home from Iraq at the begining of next year. Oh, and one last question, does Xotic have them in stock right now? Thanks Quad for the screen shots and info, that is exactly what I was looking for and actually made me finally decide to get this machine.

The edge2edge glass thing is brilliant on this thing and infact the way the whole machine was designed, its an easy to keep clean machine and none of that shiny plastic that will have swirl marks on it the first time you clean it .

You can see where my palms rest on it, but it does not look all shiny like it does on plastic and it should clean off easy with some kind of surface cleaner.

Id highly suggest just sticking with the base A1 and saving money. Gentech should also have them in stock now so you can order from there as well. They had a small mistake where Asus sent them N81 units instead of the W90 thats why I had to wait an extra few days to get mine but they took care of me by upgrading my shipping for me.

He got rid of them all and deleted many of his posts . He sent me a message earlier and without going into details he was basically just sick of all the trolls here and useless off topic conversations that never pertained to the machine and from non owners etc etc . Cant say i blame him tbh . He said he would be buying another soon most likely but wont be back much and again i cant say i blame him to a degree .
