hey MilestonePC guy, since I see you here, I must ask when you're going to ship me my battery you promised me weeks ago(using the same username there that I use here). I emailed you yet again and got no response to my last email, so I must ask here. Not trying to create a scene, I just want my battery. Thanks.

Just wanted to say Hey in this thread...Cause now I can! WOOHOO
I love upgrading computers. All the speed and power make me wonder how I ever lived with my previous computers! lol
-
Why? Did you just get your W3J? Congrats!

Thanks to the guys at MilestonePC, I'm now the owner of a very nice W3J. It's been an extremely good experience so far, and they were really helpful when I had some credit card confusion and had to buy the thing over 2 days.
This is a great notebook.
-
I had a good experience with MilestonePC as well in purchasing my W3J last week. Although they are slow to reply to emails (they eventually do) it would be best to call them up for quick answers. I had no problem making my email money transfer over 2 days and delivery was quick (they shipped it monday morning and it arrived tuesday afternoon).
So far I am more than satisfied with my machine, did a clean install with my own WinXP CD and the omega drivers. This is my first laptop and so far I'm loving all the power in that small package! -
it seems the S96J/Z96J owners on the "S96J Graininess Issue Thread " are already celebrating because the new vga bios of their system fixed their issue. im very excited to the new vga bios of W3J if it will ever come.
-
-
Just wondering, is there a W3J with an nvidia card instead of ATI?
-
I have been eyeing in this thread the every time i visit this forum and to tell the truth, it is actually the reason that kept me in this forum. i'm really excited on the new vga bios for W3J bec. it will make the good lcd better. -

Where do you all customize your W3j's?
I thought they were ensemble machines...I see peoples sigs and they have 7200rpm HD and 2gigs ram etc.
For instance I want to buy a W3j with the T7200 merom (when available) 2 gigs ram and a 7200 RPM hd...is that possible? Or can I buy it and upgrade the CPU etc myself? -
I was able to get the 2 gigs of ram pre-installed, though it came with the a-data which everyone says is bad. So far it works for me, so *shrug*
As for the 7200rpm drive, that's something you have to do yourself. I keep meaning to do it, but as of yet I've been too lazy; I don't have a huge desire to reinstall everything, and I don't have the hardware I need to get the whole drive imaged. I'll figure that out later. -
How to upgrade Catalyst Control Center ?
I mean what exactly should I download? I have check ATI site and comletely lost.
Thanks in advance ! -
Do you mean how to upgrade ATI VGA driver? What version do you use now? What version do you want to use?
If you want the latest version, go to http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/ but I heard that this version (6.9) could cause some headaches. If you want the 6.8 version you have to look somewhere else... like here http://www.driverheavendownloads.net/ati.htm -
this thread will never die!!! haha
-
robohgedhang - thanks !
I have Catalyst Control Center wich goes with w3.
so 6.9 is the latest, right? -
Welcome, vladgrig... I can't remember what version of CCC that goes with W3J, but yes, 6.9 is the latest, and maybe you better stick with 6.8.
-
Hello, I just downloaded 3dmark 06 and when i ran it i only scored like 1200, any suggestions i could look at? havent dug at all, im just in class and bored thought i would plug the thread a little
-
It's not necessarily abnormal that you scored that. The default values for the card are 450/450. I have mine overclocked to 510/510, and my 3dm06 is 2174. The test is designed to push your card to its limits, so on a default, 1200 may not be that far off the norm. Also, 3dm results can change +/-100 or so on any given test, so run it a couple more times right after a fresh reboot and see how it does. -
It is definitly a great product! I just need to stop hitting the side buttons by accident! I do it once a day (so far).
-
-
where can I check it ?
-
Right-click on your desktop, click ATI CATALYST (R) Control Center, click 'Graphics Software' in the left side panel. You should see a field for CATALYST version in the right panel. However, if you have 6.8, it still shows 06.7.
-
thanks robohgedhang!
it says :driver packaging version - 8.204.1-...
catalyst control center - 1.2.2201.31681
and data for 2d, direct 3d and openGl versions.
there are no 6.8 or 06.7 -
In that case.... I run out of answer... Maybe it's because you still use the default driver from ASUS... just maybe. Just try to download and install the 6.8 version, and see if your 3Dmark05 marks goes up.
-
after downloading, go to control panel to remove original drivers..restart then install the new omega drivers..you should be able to hit 4200s now in 3dmark 05 -
what is the latest driver. I downloaded 6.7 for my Asus W3J. I thought that was the latest. Is there 6.8 already. If so where could I download?
-
Wow where have you been, dude? The latest is 6.9. Download sites are in this thread... look at previous posts.
Now do you know what's best? The beta BIOS that gets rid of the graininess issue.... is ready!!!! -
-
You know, I see so many people talking about the grainy-screen issue in here.
I have to admit, maybe this is just me coming from an inferior graphics laptop (C110 Tablet), to this beautiful machine...But I notice NO graininess at all.
I dont know what everyone's been talking about. I see nothing but glossy beautiful images...even on white/off-white/grey pages. -
@jterp7: the beta BIOS is the BIOS ver. 209, which gets rid of the graininess in W3J screen and (supposedly) supports Merom in W3J. I don't know if I'm allowed to link the BIOS in here... Ken?
@Chet: check www.comcast.net, see the dark blue background. If you see the graininess, then it's OK, the fix is ready. If you still can't see it, well it's good for you. -
robohgedhang, this beta BIOS you speak of is it ATI CCC, or some other driver. I believe you are allowed to post link, I seen others do it but its usually hyperlinked to a word.
I have not experiance any headaches with 6.8. I have 06.7= 6.8. As I've been told.
6.9 is available, don't know what headaches it could produce. Could someone post the problems they are experiancing with 6.9. -
LatinoHeat, it's not ATI CCC, it's a W3J's BIOS update, which is still in beta version (but works!), that fixes the graininess screen issue in W3J (please research about this issue yourself) and (supposedly) supports upgrading to Merom in W3J.
I sent you a PM. -
Ok, I understand.
For ATI CCC the latest is 6.9
The BIOS update, is supposed to fix the issue. Thank you for the PM. I think I will try it when it is fully released. I don't want to try a beta on my notebook, especially when it affects the whole notebook. I would wait for the final release, and when ASUS posts it up in their driver download site.
So what where the headaches about 6.9 ATI CCC. -
i think i'll wait until the bios release is official..but good to know
-
wonder if the new bios will solve the reboot problem while installing vista...=)
-
beautiful.. beatiful.. what a beautiful screen.. the vga bios is working great so far..
i think it did not only fix the graininess.. notice that the black is black now, not a washed out black.. the colors are so deep.. great fix!! -
Yeah, this beta bios rocks. The picture on this laptop looks amazing. Thanks to everyone who made this happen!
-
what is the vga bios ? where does it come from ?
thank you ! -
-
Thanks robohgedhang !
-
I tried it, installed it, works great. Centrino logo changed to Intel. But now it matches, all black and white.
It is a must try. If this is a beta, imagine the final release.
Thank you robohgedhang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
IMO all 'thank yous' should be given to Ken, Hyper, and other people contributing to this forum.......
-
ok then thanks to all the contributors.
-
Ha LatinoHeat, who is the man in your avatar? Sorry OT.
-
