Have you ever seen the benchmark database notebookforums.com uses?

 

they have a search able updated database???

 

ok i can see it in hwinfo but now everytime i open steam the g73 freezes and i have to hard reset it :|

Guys a quick question. Sorry if it was asked before.. Can you confirm that the only place to buy one of those is @ newegg?

 

You can buy one at any of the fine resellers but Newegg is the only place that is shipping units right now.

 

Newegg has 85 units as of now. Little trick; put "99" of the same item in you cart and if there is less than that in stock it will show how many. If it says 99 then there is that many or more.

 

And they better have some when my friggin RMA gets approved or I'm gonna be pi$$ed! lol

Not sure what I'll do if they run out and give me my money back.

Exactly same situation I am in. I sent mine back on Monday and it is being delivered tomorrow and then they have to see if they can "fix it." God only knows how long that will take

If they don't have any, I would ask nicely for my money back. Tell them you even asked if they'll have enough in stock when you rma it and they claimed they did. If they refuse, just calmly tell them, you'll be filing a complaint with the BBB.

I had a problem with a local tv store and microcenter and both refuse to help me saying they couldn't. I filed a complaint and the next day both of them contacted me saying they will get me the help I deserve. I got both my issues resolved by filing with the BBB.

So that's how you guys know how many they got in stock. I always wonder how you guys did it. Now they got 84 left as of right now.

 

It is in newegg's policy to refund your money if an RMA replacement item is on backorder.

I know they will give me my money back, but I don't want my money - I want a G73. lol

 

I can't say it lowers it, just in 1 app for me, but it def doesn't give you any noticable increase in anything I've tried.

I am very unhappy with the touchpad. Anyone want a 1 day old G73-X1 from Newegg for $1500 shipped? Paid $1620.

So what do you guys think about these system lock up issues some of us are having? For me it was occurring in launcher menus. Like for Dragon Age and this one game Helldarado. It happened as well while trying to mess with Fancy Start.

I'm able to play the games I mention if I just start it from the main .exe but does anyone have a general idea what could be causing these problems? I've heard some people having lock up problems with Steam as well. Could it be a graphics driver or would that really be unrelated?

 

Why not use a mouse? The touchpad is a typical touchpad.

Sucks they raised the prices on these but thats what you can do when you have a monopoly.

Wonder what Newegg did for ASUS to deserve this exclusivity?

 

Got my X1 today. Haven't done much on it but here are some pics. Hopefully this can help drum up some drive caddies. I'm going to check out a place locally tomorrow who says they sell a few different ones.

Hey guys, I just did a clean install and it seems that everything worked fine but the graphic card. When open the windows rating, this is what happend. Both of the graphics and gaming graphics are being rated as 6.0 which have become the lowest score. I'm pretty sure I installed the driver correctly. So, any ideas about this? the pic is up..

 

wow i thought the cpu would score better than that. my overclocked t9300 @3.15ghz scores 7.0 on wei!!! and my other rig has an overclocked celeron @3ghz t3000 that scores 6.8 maybe this g73 wont be such an upgrade for me afterall although i could use a bigger screen... i may wait to see if msi offers an overclockable laptop in the 720qm variation as i cant justify 1200.00 for a cpu alone (920xm)

$1300 for my Asus G73 on Ebay. I didn't think newegg would charge me a $240 restocking fee. On principle I rather sell it to someone else then RMA. Newgg said no refund only credit. However I am going lenovo w510 i think. Thanks

can anyone run passmark cpu bench real quick on their 720

 

I just got into this thread, after just having returned mthe DELL studio 17 core i7 , due to major problems.

Could someone summarize the benefits...and also the exposed weaknesses of this laptop?

based on passmark site the 720qm scores 3200 or so. my t9300 overclocked scores 2482 which seems like a decent boost... im really looking for a multi tasking, video encoding, graphics designing monster

 

I ordered the Dell Studio 17 at the first of this month. After reading the horrors and on the phone with them 4 times and over 4 hours for a screwup in the order, I refused the shipment and had it sent back. Got my G73 today and so far am happy as a clam!

 

I wonder if you could use one of the to enclose your SSD drive. Looks like it would fit snug in the drive bay and the back case cover would hold it in place. Might have to trim it for the SATA connection. Maybe not but it's cheap!

Question for you guys that did a fresh install on your G73: What was the total size of the install after all drivers and basic software?

 

20-25 GB if I remember right

 

I didn't install all the software though...

 

I used cardboard and duct tape, seems to hold together very nicely...
