Well, I've written a short first impression on the X83Vb-X1 HERE. It's basically the exact same unit as the X83Vm-X2, but the X2 is much better spec'ed. The X83Vm-X2 will do quite well for modest gaming, thanks to it's 9600M GS GPU.

The 9600M GT would definitely be better :)

THe GT is better but you can still kick some games with the GS.

I think the card could accomplish that on all of them but Fallout 3 and Mass Effect, but I'm not quite sure. the 9600m GT is definitely a nice card though.

"Compared to desktop graphics cards, the 9600M GT is similar to the GeForce 9500GT (which also descends from the G96 core). The desktop CPU 9600 GT has a 256 bit memory bus and is therefore much faster."

CPU probably yes (but exchanging it voids warranty and depending on your usage pattern you may see very little improvement for the effort).
    GPU most likely not.
See also Info BoothFAQ, "Can my GPU be upgraded".

also if your looking for a review for the laptop google x83vm-x1 its the same exact laptop just with a better p8400 processor. This unit was also sold at Best Buy and was a great deal for awhile at $749.

    according to http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx...b&id=20090203065603331&page=2&SLanguage=en-us

and according to my friend who has one this laptop has an mxm-ii card

which would mean that the graphics are upgradeable

i'm buying one of these later today, i will report back to confirm this

edit: different laptop than that ref's and than i'm getting, i'll still report back on the vb-x2 but it wont' hold much bearing although i'm pretty sure the only difference is the hd and the higher end graphics on the vm i think it's the same basic machine.

ok, the vm is the same basic laptop with better video built in, a bigger hd and i think a faster proc

i is in fact a standard mxm graphics slot of some sort

the touch pad sucks though, there's dead zones at the very edge i can't seem to turn off so the scroll zones aren't right at the edge, it makes them hard to find.

the keyboard also is stiff and you have to completely press the key to make sure letters actually type
