There's too much bloatware for my taste so I'd like a clean install. I'm coming from an HP dv6500t CTO notebook which I also ran through a clean install http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=120228 using the Windows Anytime Upgrade DVD.

I simply want a lean/clean Vista but also want the hotkeys, touch-sensitive buttons, and secondary LCD display to work.

Can I use the 2 recovery DVDs included with this Asus and get the same results with the WAU DVD? What is the difference between the 2 discs? Do they contain bloatware in them or is that all contained in the 3rd drivers disc?

Of these programs below, which are necessary/very useful as compared to a barebones OS only? If Windows Update can provide a driver to use the device without the programs below that would be ideal since I want to keep the installed programs list to a minimum. Much thanks in advance!

    ASUS Bloatware guide - http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=380681

Note that removing half of the stuff wont show any noticible difference in loading time or overall system performance. XP with none of the asus software except drivers barley out benches vista with all of it lol. Seems most people would consider their office software bloatware if it wasnt for the fact they actually need it now and then.

In most cases with your laptop your second disc never gets used and all the asus software is on the driver disk. The restore partition (F9) is a more original install then the discs.

So the Recovery DVDs are "less original" meaning less bloatware than the F9 restore partition, right?

Then the recovery discs contain some bloatware, just not much?

Never ran it just read complaints of it never asked for the second disc and all the asus software is missing. Remove it all and your hot keys wont do anything.

I copied your list and removed the items I dont use and arent needed. Whats left is what the average G50 owner might use if they bought the laptop for the features it came with, say ExpressGate which is the instant on linux os people can use to quickly chek their email in a matter of seconds.
