Hi
Ive got a really confusing problem.
Using windows to manage my wireless it no longer detects my router.
Using the intel proset software it detects and connects to my router no problem.
Also under ubuntu linux my wireless also works perfectly.
Problem is, Windows used to detect my connection fine on its own up until a day ago. And I really dont like using the intel software when windows can do the job just fine, it adds unnecessary startup items and uses 70mb of ram.
I believe the problem is that windows is trying automatically connect and its failing for some reason. Ive had this problem once before and all I had to do was delete the "Automatically connect to" entry under the "change the order of preffered networks" tab.
Usually there is an entry with the name (ssid) of the router you can remove. There are no entries there anymore but it still says "cannot connect to xxxx network" when I turn the computer on.
Heres a pic of what i mean.

See? Nothing there, yet it still tries to connect.

Why don't you just try to use system restore.

Ok, I solved it. Turns out im a dumbass and disabled system event notification or error reporting thinking I didnt need it. Stupid me.
System restore probably would have worked too, thanks for the tip Q8Phantom.
