    Hi everyone,

I have recently bought an ASUS K50IJ notebook and I am truly pleased with it. It is amazingly stylish, solid, fast and has 1GB graphics to top it all off. It came installed with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

Seeing all the bloatware that came with it, I decided to install a fresh copy of the same windows and I used the product key included with my laptop to activate it.

Before installing the fresh new windows, there were some drivers such as SRS Premium Sound and some Smart Pad driver which really worked like a charm ( especially the SRS Premium Sound driver ).

After installing the new windows, I lost all of those drivers and have been constanly updating them using Windows Update and Uniblue Driver Scanner 2011.
But for some reason, they haven't appeared yet. I checked Driver Manager and there is no sign of them. Not even a little whisper...

I checked about ASUS's Download Center for drivers and it gives me all the drivers and loads of updates that I can download from them. I'm wondering if those drivers are just there for the show or are they there because all of those drivers on my laptop are outdated.
Their support forum didn't make any sense and their is no help available there. It's a horrible support forum.

What should I do now? Should I download those drivers? Though Unilbue Driver Scanner says I have no outdated drivers. What the hell!? Or, is there any way to bring back that SRS Premium Sound? Because the sound on my laptop without it is horribly dim.

    Thank you very much.

The drivers that you see on the ASUS website should be the most up to date drivers available. I'm not familiar with the Uniblue Driver Scanner software you are using (I've never used it myself) so I can't speak for why that is saying something different. I would use the drivers available on the ASUS site myself, since they are specific for the computer and are up to date.

Drivers like SRS and the like won't be updated with windows update or a driver updater unless there were already present on the computer. Get them from the Asus support site.

Thanks! Well I guess I'll download all of the drivers off of ASUS's website. Though, SRS isn't listed in my notebook's model's specific drivers. Even though it came installed with SRS Premium Sound and it also has the SRS logo where the stickers are. o_O

I took the gamble anyway and download from ASUS's official site, SRS drivers ( even though they weren't listed for my laptop's model ) and like I thought, it didn't work.
The installation said that there is no SRS compatible devices available. Then why the hell was it working before the new windows installation!?!

Oh well, I can forget that. Thanks for the help anyways guys. It came in handy. :)

Always install the ATK package first, then the sound drivers then SRS, might just work this way. Use of the driver CD is acceptable, you can update the drivers afterwards you have everything up and running.

My laptop didn't come with a drivers CD as I got it used. Though, it was used only for 2 weeks and the muppet previous owner lost the user manuals and everything. Can't complain about that now....

The drivers section at the ASUS website has ATK in it. First thing I download and installed. The BIOS section comes with some funny files that aren't .exe but rather are "24 file" and stuff like that. Don't know what to do with that kind of stuff. :p

The drivers listed in there for my specific model are in newest to oldest order. Am I going to download and install the oldest then newest drivers or can I take a jump straight to the latest?
