    Hi,

I did a search on this forum but couldn't find any (dedicated) topic about problems with wifi on a Asus M50Vm. If there is a topic about this problem, then my sincere apologies and if you can, please give me the link :)

    The problem is this:
At the front of my laptop (left) there is a switch that is supposed to active my wifi and bluetooth. The moment I flick the witch, my bluetooth is getting activated, but my wifi isn't. According to the Hardware Manager all drivers are installed. I tried to re-install the driver and after that is worked fine. Until it stoped working all of a sudden, without any explanation.

Is there anyone else that encountered this problem? Or is there anyone that can give me a suggestion? All help is appreciated :)

This sounds like a driver issue, for which you could (yet again) reinstall the driver.

Or possibly, are you using wireless console to control your WiFi and Bluetooth? On my W7Sg, I can control the WiFi+BT independently only using WirelessConsole. The hardware switch cuts off power to both; however, when the power is turned back on, the state of WiFi and BT is remember, so that e.g., if WiFi was off before the hardware toggle was flipped, then it is still of. If this is your problem, you simply need to reactivate WiFi from Wireless Console. Or, if you have a dedicated Fn+F* button, you could do this simply using that button.

This happens to me every now and then, the first time it took me FOREVER to figure it out. It's simple though, press FN + Wifi (I think it's F2) and it'll turn the radio back on.

Yeah, sorry, my explanation was trying to say roughly the same thing but I managed to make it more convoluted.

this happens sometimes with me as well.

What i do is make sure the wifi button is on (the one next to the IR Port) Then, use the Fn+F2 command and ensure the Wifi and BT is on. Leave it for about a minute or two and you should be working.

This has caught me several times before.

    Hey people,

Sorry for the late reply, I appreciate he useful comments, cause my problem is solved! Thanks again and have a good one ;)

Oh yeah, the solution to my problem was to start the wireless console again and after that press FN + F2. Then a reboot, flip the switch at the front and wireless was up and running again.
