Hi, I am thinking of adding an SSD as a replacement for my N53SN's BlueRay Drive.

I have been reading around on the interwebz about this, and just wondering if anyone has any experience with this model?

I found this hdd caddy on ebay:
12.7mm SATA 2nd HDD Hard Drive caddy for ACER HP DELL ASUS Universal CD DVD ROM

Does anyone know if the N53SN's chipset supports sata 3, or only sata2?

Do I need to take any conciderations when buying the drive caddy? It has the standard form factor, correct connections inside and outside, and the blueray drive's faceplate can be transferred over to the hdd caddy.

I will be ordering an OCZ Agility3 Drive. Would you insert the SSD in the original HDD bay, or in the hdd caddy, or is tis irrelevant?

    Thanks for your reply! :)

    Hello Requieme87-

It would be my suggestion to place the SSD in the Hard Drive slot. The Optical Bay only supports SATA 2, so you would be running on those speeds. You could, clearly, boot from the optical drive if you wanted. But, in the ASUS N53SN, the hard drive supports SATA 3, so you would be better off placing it in the hard drive slot.

    Best of luck!
