    was wondering if anyone faces the same issues:

    1. screen flicker issue -
    attached to external monitor (Acer AL2216W) using res 1680x1050 (16 or 32 bit depth - doesn't matter);
    monitor's vertical refresh unable to set to 60Hz (stays at 59).
    Surprisingly, after I pull out the AC adapter, the screen flickers disappear!

    2. Occassionally i set it to sleep (Fn + F1);
    Upon wake up, the machine will abruptly lose power and shutdown on its own (ie shutdown not as in clicking the shutdown button and it gracefully powers off - shutdown as in suddenly power off).

    Windows 7? Probably a GPU power management issue. Plenty of them to go around.
