    Hi dear UX32VD owners!

My only concern with my precious UX32VD is the touchpad that sits a little loose. When tapping it, it feels and sounds like it's a little lose, which degrades the overall wonderful solidness of the machine.

Ever since seeing ifixit.com's teardown of the UX32VD ( Asus Zenbook UX32VD Teardown - iFixit) I thought that it must be possible with a little McGuywer-skills to make the touchpad firmer.

Today a fellow owner has confirmed my suspicions :)

On a swedish forum a user simply put some kitchen paper between the touchpad and the battery. He confirms that the touchpad sits more firmly after the hack:)

I do not know if kitchen paper is the optimal material however. I do not know what temperatures the area between the touchpad and battery gets, so one should be careful. And most importantly be thorough when screwing back all screws, both on the battery and the back cover.

I must also write an obvious WARNING.
Modifying your computer might void the warranty and cause hardware failure, so proceed only at your own risk!

    Good Luck!

Is this a known issue? I have the UX32A with this issue and I am still in the 14 day exchange period. Should I exchange for another unit or do all of them have this defect?

From my experience it seems to be a pretty wide issue. Of the 5 units I've seen in stores, 4 of them had a loose touchpad in some degree (some worse than others). However, it's an issue that most buyers won't notice until they read about it. But people on these forums will most definitely want an alternative instead of returning it. Me for example, got a perfect screen with no bleeding at all, so instead of risking getting a replacement unit with a bleeding screen, a fix like this one is to prefer.

Ok I think I have just isolated the problem. My touchpad only clicks when I am resting my left palm on the palm rest area left of the touchpad. So something is going on there.
