HI just got my W3V and followed quick-start instructions, unpack, put battery, plug and use. But the problem came when I unplugged the AC, although battery wasn't empty, it shutted down automatically. I was also unable to boot it without the AC. Did I break something?

I later read that I had to fully charge the battery before it can be used, is that why? How long does it take? I had it on the AC for a few hours now!

Please help! Don't tell me I broke something already!

Thanks! (it's a great system, everything worked when I had AC plugged, I just hate the long shut down time... is it normal?)

Make sure the battery pack is attached correctly and not loose. Also take note if the 'charging LED' is on or not. I am pretty sure there should be one of these indicator but I can't be sure. Under Windows in the Power Management settings, was the battery detected? (This can be accessed via Control Panel)

The W3V has two firm locks on the battery.
There is a LED to show charging.
In Windows, I seen it at 40% then charge up to 99%, never 100%.

Just an update on this, I called ASUS on Friday explaining the problem, the concluded the battery had charging problems. Today I received an email that Fedex will come pick up my battery tomorrow afternoon! I have to find some packaging in the meanwhile. They said the expected time for the RMA was of 2 business to a week.

Anything else I can do to try to solve the problem? I notice the battery reports 98% now, but doesn't boot from it still. From knowledgeable people there, do you think it's a battery or a motherboard problem?

Or I just can't charge a battery properly.... click battery in, plug AC adapter...

I'm also having a problem where Windows XP freezes when the black screen with the loading bar reaches 100% after a hibernation, does that give a clue?

I have updated the BIOS to the latest version.

    Thanks!
