    Hey guys,

Today at uni, i accidently dropped my laptop while it was in the laptop bag and taking it out, i discovered a pretty nasty crack in the left hinge with a bit that broke off.

Now, i know that it was my fault for being careless but what can i do get it fixed (im from melbourne, victoria, australia) and i know there is an ASUS service centre in melbourne that i found, but what are the steps i should take in order to get it fixed? just wondering if anyone has experenced something similar, and knows what price im looking at to fix it as well as how long it might take.

btw my dad bought the laptop for me and i dont want to tell him or i'll be dead meat so i want to get this done without him knowing LOL.

i've attached 2 pictures for those of you who might want to examine the severity of the crack and give me any useful advice.

    thanks in advance !

You have accidental damage warranty, don't you?
I think this the best way to go

Like Oldman said, you should be entitled to a 1 year free accidental damage warranty. All you need to do is to contact ASUS service center.

You seem to be right. ADW does not cover Australia.

    So you have 3 options:

    a) Tell them that crack appeared without any fault of yours ( kind of F3 problem.)

    If this does not work

    b) pay for repair
    c) leave it as is or to prevent crack from spreading, fill if with acrylic based glue

P.S. Find out all this papers that came with NB. My NB had a sticker on the body or screen (do not remember exactly) with ADW sertificate

    thanks for that oldman but
    a) if they see this crack, they will know immediately that i dropped it lol no doubt.
    b) yea i'll most definitely have to pay for the repair
    c) not an option, my dad will kill me

update* its all good now, i spoke to a asus live support representative and he told me just to call up the service centre and then go in to get it fixed
