Nvidia brings the clocks on the graphics card way down becuase there is no dedicated fan on the g1s for it. So im wondering if anyone had devised something to attend the needs of cooling in this locked up beast. Honestly, i put my g1s on an air conditoner (industrial) and i maxed out crysis on 1024 high. With overclocking of course. but temps stayed in 50 c range. Please, if you can direct me in the way of a card mod to cool it, ill be so happy. Im just unhappy with the temps it runs at.

50 degrees celsius and you want it cooler? that's pretty damn good, especially with oc. i highly suggest you get a walk in freezer if that bothers you.

what temps are you running without a/c? if it's in 70's you should be alright. heck, i'm not too happy with my low 70's on idle. i have an antec notebook cooler s and a 4 inch fan blowing on my laptop. cpu rarely goes above 35c, gpu idle is 55, mid 70's c when playing supreme commander and my hdd only goes up to 38 when doing virus scan or file transfer.

well for gpu:cpu with out oc 65c/82c >>>>with overclock cpu is 70 and gpu is 83

this is with my window open laptop copper cooling pipes exposed, and a cooling pad on the laptop upside down so i used an external monitor. all temps raise 25 percent or so with it down and open with the copper pipe covers on

Even that would be kinda questionable. I would be curious to find out if blowing that very cold air, into a hot notebook, would even be healthy for it. As far as it changing temps rapidly from hot, to cold. Dunno... The M51Sn is the same though... real hot... Im hittin 92C peak on Crysis with laptop cooler, and flat surface, no overclocking. 92C is normally the temp that all mobile (and not only) GPU's in this class go. Just keep it lower than 100 and everything is gonna be fine.

My G1S 8600M GT hits about 95C when playing demanding games. I use the Zalman notebook cooler and my temps stay below 90C.

Have an X800XT in my desktop, gets to about 92C when gaming. It has its own fan, and two case fans. Been doing that for about 2 years, and still going strong... I don't think 80C for a video card is something to complain/worry about....

it is when you have a laptop. you burn a graphics cards in a laptop, you might be out a whole laptop possibly. and laptops are generally more expensive than desktops.

Yeah, seems like there's no way you're not going to stay out of the 90's on a stock G1S on more demanding games(without mod/help). I have had various results with different drivers too, but I wouldn't expect too much of a change in temp. Although I have to note... something messed up when I first installed FW 175.63 - I reset all reg settings via RivaTuner and somehow it disabled powermizer. It disabled my standard 2D, so I was idling at +10C from my "norm" of 61C, as my clock was stuck in Perf 3D. So my idle was like 71~79C, and my fan was kicking on all the time = annoying.

There are people who swear by re-pasting their C/GPU's, I say ya shouldn't have to if you're running stock(or I'd be beating down ASUS' door). But, the GPU chipset has alot of headroom (some claim the same in the 8700m - in fact I don't think the 8700 core has it's own codename - checked wiki), and I've mananged to OC mine quite a bit with not a single heat related mod. I agree with Predator_MF - Stay under 100C and you should be alright. I personally start to sweat once I hit 97+, literally and figuratively. Stops becoming a laptop then.. ouch!

But keep in mind mobile GPUs will naturally get hotter than desktop ones, by definition (less cooling room).
