This is the second time my Asus M70V, with Vista Home Premium dies on me. It is not possible to set the Bios boot menu to 'boot from DVD'. The reason I did reboot because while updating my Ipod using Itunes, all of a sudden the Computer did not recognize my Ipod and my external HD anymore. It responded with 'USB device not recognized' ...

Having read through the posts, it tried Esc, F1 and F2 to make the computer boot from the recovery DVD. I do get the Bios screen, but it does not respond to the F2 strokes, to switch to 'boot from drive'. It is busy 'initalizing the USB controllers'.

    The Bios Menu says:

    'Press F2 to run setup
Boot Selection Popup menu has been selected
The MCH is operating with DDR2-800/CL6 in Dual Channel Mode
    Initalizing USB Controllers'

The laptop is not responding and not reacting to F2. It seems frozen in 'initalizing USB controllers..'

All USBs are empty and I have nothing plugged into them.

I have also tried the F9 for the recovery partition, but also no response. The laptop shows the Asus and intel logos on a black schreen. my Computer does not get past the Asus screen, or (when pounding Esc or F2, does open the Bios mask, but freezes there). It does not react to any keystroke at all....

    Any suggestions?

Don't know if you figured this out yet, but you need to update your BIOS to 207, takes care of the USB not being recognized. Had the same thing happen with my M70Vm-C1
