I realized today that I have had my V6j for exactly one year. I figured I should post a little bit about my experience.

This notebook has been awesome. There are a few small problems, but overall, I give it a 10. It is durable, stylish, lightweight, and great. I have scratched this this quite a bit, taken it with me all over, and just generally been harsh on it, and it still runs great. The hinges haven't loosened, or anything of that sort. I would say, aside from cosmetics, it is in the same shape as when i got it. The only troubles I have had are battery related. Tech support replaced my battery 3 times for me, and are supposedly now working on a solution. I will buy Asus again. I have never seen a computer hold up this well, this long.

Hey, good to hear Caleb. I think the people here on NBR have successfully convinced me that my next notebook needs to be an Asus.

My next notebook will 95% be an Asus. Just waiting to see how long it takes Asus to put DX10 and Santa Rosa into the V2.

Good to hear, Caleb. I've had my Z63a for a while now and it's still going strong... yay for Asus! Hopefully their ASMobile line won't disappoint this year.

my v6j is also approaching 1 year mark. 3 more months and its 1 year. I just recently sent in to replace to dvd drive. I should get my laptop back tomorrow. The dvd drive and the battery is my complaints about this laptop. I'm planning on getting my battery replace because under minimum usage, such as typing an essay, the battery last less than 2 hour ona full charge. the wear level is too high. I rarely use the battery because most of the time, my computer is plugged in.
Overall v6j is a great laptop, but i won't buy a laptop with Panasonic dvd drive again. Next time when i need a new notebook, I will strongly considered asus.

it's been 2 years for my Z71V, and I'm still happy as well. At the 2 year mark with previous notebook, it was having constant issues loading, ran almost everything slowly, the battery was completely dead (wouldn't hold a charge for 3 seconds unplugged), and I'd managed to accidentally break the screen by picking it up wrong. There is a distinct quality difference between this notebook and the last one.

    Yes, check this:

Other than that: I have had my V6J for almost exactly a year now as well (bought it at the end of March don't remember the exact date). My troubles with it:
    - the battery problem (I have changed I think 5 batteries until now, and 3 motherboards for the same issue -- but if I had known the nature of the problem I wouldn't have),
    - some small annoying bugs in the BIOS; most fixed by now
    - a faulty original DVD drive that didn't write RWs / fixed by replacement.

However, I still love this notebook, and the next notebook (as the one before it) will be an ASUS, most likely. I love it for its build quality, for the way it maximizes the screen surface, and maybe first of all for its absolutely gorgeous looks, and also for its performance.

I've been lucky enough to be able to refurbish it recently under warranty, but it wasn't scratched or anything (not that it's easy to scratch); before refurbishing, I've been asked when moving it around hallways if it's new, because it looked new.

Edit: Oh and about the M6Ne: that computer runs so well that sometimes I even forget it exists. I gave me absolutely 0 trouble from the moment I've bought it (well I had to fix it once after a crash but that wasn't its fault). It's almost 2 years old now (bought May 2005) but with an extra 1GB of RAM it runs smoothly.

Yep 3 batteries, and I probably could have gotten a 4th. Its annoying, but I am learning to deal with it. I would buy this again. In reference to the DVD drive, I would say this one is worse than some that I have owned, but I don't use it enough to have it be a reason that I dislike the computer. I have considered replacing it, but there is nothing that jumps out as really worthwhile for me.
