I have always been weary in terms of purchasing a 12 inch notebook. I do alot of surfing, watching movies, and writing papers and feel that 12 inches might be too small. Any opinions? (I was looking at the w5)

If you used the 9 cell battery for the w5, are we talking 6-8 hours of battery life?

Watching movies, doing papers, or surfing web one at a time is fine but if u try to do both then its too small....I would go 13.3 or 14.0 wide screens instead for mobility. The memory specs I dont know about but thats an odd number.

If you've never used a 12" screen before you should at least try one out at a local store for a 10-15 minutes to see if you'll be able to handle it. It's not the computer that isn't going to be good enough, it's whether you're going to be able to use something that small.... If you don't understand that, try to understand the computer itself is really not any worse or better than anything else. For a 12" screen, the W5 is beautiful and has very good resolutions for that size.

Battery life is so hard to pin down, but with a system like the W5, it'll certainly range depending on what you're doing (mainly with camera use and screen brightness... a bit to do with cpu), but you shouldn't have a problem with 6-7 hours...... I've seen some who've gotten 5 (i think they've upgraded to a faster hard drive though) and I've seen people with more than 8 (i think that's with wifi off... screen brightness very low). It's going to work like you work and that should be good enough. You'll get very good life for however you use it.

I think if you do alot of movie watching on your lappy prolly the z63a would be a better idea. W3v also if you can benefit from the dedicated vga card.
