N43SL & N43SN
14.0" 16:9 LED Backlight
Intel Sandy Bridge
Intel HM 65
Nvidia Geforce GT 540M 2GB DDR3 (N43SL)
Nvidia Geforce GT 550M 1GB DDR3 (N43SN)
Release date: Mid to Late January 2011

That sounds interesting , with the rumours of dual cores sandy bridge being delayed until Feb does this mean we might be looking at a 14" quadcore with the Jan date?
-
The SB N43 I saw had a core i7 and a 525M. Didn't catch the actual model name though.
-
Is there a source for this info?
-
I don't want to say it is not true, but I do not believe it.
The two letters used for the bigger versions have been known: SV
N73SV and N53SV.
If the N43 was going to get a name it would be N43SV. Also the N53SV and N73SV are using the NV GT 540, so I would find it hard to believe the N43SV is going to have a GT 550M option. -

And the N43SN and N73SV are already included in the support site of Asus. Enough said. It is real

I just noticed your location as in London, where were you when you saw these laptops?
Classic that you can buy this new model in Poland first!
Cheers -
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
if they werent so bulky....
-
@NZwaverider
I'm sorry to say I saw the laptops in Lisbon. I live in London but I'm Portuguese and went back home for Christmas. Brought back a N43JM. It's unfortunate that Asus is choosing not to release the N43s here, there aren't that many high-performance, sub-15in laptops around and these models have very aggressive pricing. I'm amazed they can't find a market for them here. -
I'm just lucky that I travel a bit with work, so will keep my eyes open on where they pop up, even via USA would be an option.
You do have to laugh though, you can get the new Sandybridge laptops in Poland and Portugal, but not London, what are they thinking??? maybe too many people in London are going for the budget models?? -

ClearSkies Well no, I'm still here..
Published reports now have Intel halting all Sandy Bridge production due to the Cougar Point chip error until the end of Feb when they restart the fabs. OEM's are witholding and/or recalling product that might have shipped with the Cougar chipset.
All SB product launches for all vendors are going to be delayed due to this problem - estimates are 6 weeks to 3 months. -
Intel Discovers Bug in 6-Series Chipset: Our Analysis - AnandTech :: Your Source for Hardware Analysis and News
Although another article stated
Update: Jimmy sent us a chat log with an Intel customer service representative indicating that this recall only affects "some desktop boards based on Intel P67 chipset,"
So considering the laptop chipset is HM65, this issue may only affect desktop systems.
But definitely worth holding off for now to see exactly what systems are affected.
Actually looking at this the N43SN would be affected.

Unless I missed something on the ASUS products page, I didn't see any 14" models with a WXGA+ screen...can anyone confirm this please...
I am really fighting a battle between a 14" lappy or a 15.6" with Full HD...I sold my HPDV3T 14" in December to get a Sandy Bridge model. I pre-ordered the NV53SV-XV1 because I couldn't pass up those specs for that price...since it has been delayed, I have been browsing for 14" models and still trying to decide... -
Nope, the N43 series comes with 1366x768 screens only.
-
Any news on a 13.3" with SB from Asus?

Hi. Does anybody have an idea about the new revamped K series (Versatile Performance) laptops which Asus plans to release in 2011? It supposedly has some new innovative techology which keeps laptop very cool.
-
-
What's the performance difference between the n43sn and n53sn? the n53 obviously has the bonus of an optional fhd screen, but other differences include:
-16 gigs of ram over 4 slots compared to 2 slots with a max of 8
-2 gigs of ddr3 on the gt 550m instead of the 1 on the n43
Other than that, these two laptops appear to be essentially the same machine, different box. -

Apparently the n53sn will be available in April (at least for Austrailia)
So we can assume a similar date for the n43? -
-
Any news about this laptops?
There are already a few (revised) sandy bridge laptops on the market (N series, K series, 15", 17") but no news about N43... -
asus n43sn - wyniki wyszukiwania - Sklep komputerowy - X-Kom.pl
I also contacted a reseller on Portugal but they never replied, please let me know if you find a reseller in Portugal who will be stocking the N43SN -
In Portugal N43 SL is already displayed on some sites but still it's not available.
I contacted 2 of the stores and they told me that they expect late march.
But one of the stores removed from their site
Now news here about N43 SN
I even saw a supermarket selling a asus, series k, sandy bridge, revised.
But N43 nowhere to be found. -
Any news on when (or if) this will be coming to the US?
-
-
I was really looking forward to getting an N43SL soon...
-
i gave up waiting, and bought a acer 3820tg instead.
its was only £505 - you can't beat a bargain like that.
with a oc of the gpu i'll probably get better fps on most games.
plus its very quiet and cool.
while the sandy bridge, blu ray, b&o speakers, and optimus would have been nice. the screen, heat, and fan noise are still unknowns, not to mention it could be difficult to obtain one of these machines. ( why oh why do x-kom not post to the uk ??????????? )
looking ahead, perhaps asus will release a g33 next year, with a no glasses 3d screen, or even a g43. until that day, i'm sure the acer will do me proud.
good luck on the n43 guys n gals, i hope its worth the wait. i will keep an eye on the first few reviews. -
Good luck with the Acer, im still looking at the Asus N43SN, TJ69 also mentioned the Lenovo y470, which is very nice similar spec, some reports say it will have a GT555 GPU but the only ones i have found for sale, have the same GT550, the 15" has the GT555 but thats too big, I want to keep to 14"form factor, anyhow the lenovo is not due for release till may... so the wait goes on.....
-
I looked into the y470 as well, but apparently it won't have a quad core, although apparently the release date has been bumped back to April.
-
Would you believe, I'm going to Poland next week for work, Torun via Warsaw, I emailed x-kom, they said they are expecting delivery of the N43SN on 7th and could deliver it to their shops on 8th, but I'm flying out Monday, returning Wednesday, so I miss out by 2 days...gutted!!!
Oh well I ordered it via their website, and will get my friend to bring it back when she goes back for Easter. -
Ouch... Try looking for other stores, that's too good of an opportunity to miss.
-
Asus is disappointing this year. They are way late to the game on these models and there is nothing spectacular about these.
Asus needs to step up their game by:
Getting better screens on their 13-15" laptops
Get rid of the single button trackpad button and make it two separate buttons
Get rid of that keyboard flex
I think I'm going to get the 3820TG too. -
Lenovo Y470 comes out in April. Pretty sure it only has the GT550m, but an Alienware m14x was leaked with a GT555m. I probably will get the y470 because the Alienware will probably be a 14 inch screen on a 15 inch body like they usually are.
Y470: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/ww/pdf/Y470_datasheet.pdf
It's basically better than the Asus N43SN in every way. Same gfx card, same memory, better (quad core) processor, 6 in 1 card reader vs this 3 in 1, same 2 MP camera, 1TB hard drive vs 750, and smaller in every direction by a little bit. -
N43sn's delivery postponed to April 28th. At least in Poland. Damn you ASUS!
-
that's hard, nothing worse than wanting a new piece of tech, and its constantly delayed.
i'm glad i opted for the acer, even the shipping wait is killing me.
what about the lenovo y470 ? is that out yet ?
