    When do you guys think that asus is planning to release another 14in laptop. I know they just released the F8VA, but I will probably getting a laptop around November or December and I was wondering if you think asus will come out with another 14in by then?

    I was just about to open a new thread when I saw this one. A friend recommended this brand and I decided to check it out. I'm looking for a 14" laptop from Asus and since I don't know much about them I was wondering if someone can recommend a model # or maybe explain how their model #'s work.

    Thanks.

    Current & Upcoming 14" Asus notebooks:

    F8Sn = Penryn + Santa Rosa with Nvidia 9500m(will be phased out)
    F8Va = Penryn + Montevina + ATI HD3650

    F8VR = Penryn + Montevina + Nvidia ?

    The current Asus 14" models are the F8 and V2 series. The letters/numbers after that designation refer to various combinations of internal components which you will have to work your way through as there are 3-5 of each.

    F is Asus' budget line, V is their business (more expensive) line.

    D3X - isn't V1 one of the current 15.4" model chassis? I wouldn't think that Asus would reassign the model to a different notebook for subsequent release.
