There is nothing on the Asus site about a 15.4" barebones notebook? Why is this the case? Will there be one soon?

The S96S is manufactured By Asus But is Supported by Intel on their VBI Program -Verified By Intel and the CBB - Common Building Blocks so all driver support is handled by Intel as I have found you will probably never find It on the Asus website

The Asus C90sw/ MxM 8600m GT and S96s/8600m GS are your best bets for barebone laptops that pack a punch(15.4" gaming wise). Their is also the Compal IFL90w/8600m GT barebone.

Do you already have the parts/components for a laptop or do you plan to buy them after/during the time you buy the bare bone?

I am interested in a barebones notebook from Asus that will be comparable to the Compal IFL90, and I will be buying all the parts once I buy the barebone.

Asus is essentially exiting the whitebox market for its own branded products, due to corporate restructuring and change in marketing focus. The VBI models (which can be purchased from resellers in various stages of build for completion), and the Cxx series, are likely all that will remain.

I was considering MSI when shopping for my notebook, but went to the forums and heard HORROR stories. Then I found the G1S and C90 and never looked back.

Why do you say the MS-163A is in between both?

The C90 is pretty close to the IFL90, same GPU and features (but the camera swivels and, obviously, the Conroe processor.)
