Yes! Finally a strong portable 15.6" Kepler/Ivy based gaming laptop available from Asus!
And a price is very competitive too! Same spec Clevo W150 costs around the same.
We get fance Subwoofer and aluminium case with Asus!
Amazon.de search link. Available on 17.3" as well.
Amazon.de: Asus N56VZ: Computer & Zubehör
The only dislike i have on this is 2GB DDR3 version of 650M instead of 1GB or 2GB DDR5. Not too bad but still a bit weaker than DDR5 version.

"The only dislike i have on this is 2GB DDR3 version of 650M instead of 1GB or 2GB DDR5. Not too bad but still a bit weaker than DDR5 version."
exactly my thought. Anyone could find some reviews of this model? Or at least GT650M ddr3 vs GT650M GDDR5 at 1920x1080? In notebookcheck i don't know what resolutions are they using. -
Looking at this from NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M - Notebookcheck.net Tech
Its not bad at all. 128bit DDR3 seems to be sufficent for this GPU.
Looks like DDR3 version is 810/900 while DDR5 version is 810/1000.
I doubt that memory clock is too big of a deal for this card. More gain should come from GPU OC.
BTW, this Eurocom Monster is also DDR3 version. Just looked it up. -
Just ordered it for my little brother. First i was thinking to go for Clevo W150, but this seems to be better deal by many ways. Hes a grafic disain student and this laptop will be perfect for hes needs.
Strong portable machinge for 2D, 3D and some gaming too.
I will do preview as soon as i get it, before handling it to my brother.

Mate, its a P score of 3dm11. That means its 1280x720. Scores may differ because of lots of reasons. GPU/CPU clocks, drivers etc, but overally it seems that ddr3 is not much behind ddr5 on this card.
-
Asus n56VZ has 1080p standard so, if i'm not wrong, the values that really interested is the values of the games testing at this resolution and not 3dm11 at 1289x720. But maybe i'm complety wrong. -
We will have comparsion soon. I just ordered this laptop and i see that in Samsung threads they have one identical ivy laptop with DDR5 version of 650M.
I will run all benches with identical settings and we shall have the difference shown.
My order can take some while to get here, since Amazon.de does not have them in warehouse yet. -

ASUS N56VZ-DS71 - XOTIC PC - Asus 15.6" Notebook
For US peeps. Available for preorder with DDR5 650M
That makes me think that maybe mine is DDR5 as well. Amazon does not specify, if its DDR3 or DDR5. I read the specs from excaliberpc.com where it sayd that its DDR3.

Benchmarks of the Clevo Clevo W110ER / Sager NP6110, which has the 650M DDR3. How does this compare to the Samsung GDDR5? -
Did some further digging. It seems to me that Clevo W150 laptops indeed use 1GB DDR5 clocked at 1000mhz on this GT650M. Clevo W110 use 2GB DDR3.
So we have 3 different versions of GT650M.
Still so far i have not seen any good direct comparable charts of those. -
I had a check with the tech guy, asked him to check if its 3 or 5, he will get back to me after he knows
-
I just ordered a Dell e6520 .. but didnt receive it yet.. now Im thinking.. should I go for this instead? both have fullHD which I wanted.. the asus seems to have bunch better specs like better and newer quadcore and much better graphiccard..
and asus seems much lighter and more portable then the dell e6520 ...
gahh.. Im going insane.. I hate this... WHy didnt I wait for these new computers... -
BTW, anyone know what kind of screen this is? glossy or ? compared to the dell e6520
-
No release date for the 14inch?
-
this looks like the perfect computer for me. I wanted to get a g55 but I need a good laptop that I can take around with me. I think i will wait a month for some reviews and then pick this up in about a month. thank you asus. I almost bough an hp envy but Im glad I waited to get another asus. Hard to not get asus when I bought 5 of them so far.

well I currently use a ul30vt as my everyday pc for work. I used to also have a g50vt and that was just to big to take around everywhere plus I needed battery life so I got the ul30vt. Now im looking for more an in between laptop. The n56 looks like it what I need. I can still game when I would like but and still use a think portable laptop.
carrying around a 1in thick laptop is alot better a a 2in laptop. -

the n56 is all I need. I think I may build a gaming desktop or buy a gaming laptop at the end of the year.

no back-lit ugh!
-
-
All the new ones have back-lit -
I hoped it would be matt... Like the e6520
-
you can pay extra to get the anti glare but its 165 more.

ASUS N56VZ-DS71 - XOTIC PC - Asus 15.6" Notebook -
anyone know how the well the 650m runs? Reviews of the 640m look good.
-
15.6" FHD 16:9 "Matte Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Anti-Glare Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut (1920x1080) (SKU - X1R306) ( + 165 )
Its still anti glare. "matte type".
Cant wait for mine to arrive. So exited to test it out
Go have a look. Its decent card. Can run BF3 on high settings. Perhaps need to OC a bit to get completely smooth gamin experience. -
I want a GDDR5 version.

i cant wait till people get these and we start to get some reviews about it
-
Im not 100% sure if this notebook supports Optimus. Thats one key selling points for me.
Some sites say it does. Some sites say it does not. So go figure...
I have cancelled my order until we have some clearance. -
ya that is also what I need to find out also. I may have to wait till after its out before I order it.
-
-
well I just preordered one from gentechpc. Cant wait to get it.
edit
well after thinking it over more I just went with a G57 with the nice 660m. I will just wait for the new cheap amd fusion laptops to come out to replace my ul30vt -
Looks like i am going to pass this notebook and im chosing Clevo with 1000mhz GDDR5 instead.
The difference between DDR3 version is 19%. Which is huge.
Posted a comparsion thread here:

Anyone knows how does it perform compared to the ExpressCache on Samsung Series 7?
Im looking for an 15 inch laptop and this feature could be very important for everyday performance...
Thankyou! -
does the webcam of this new n series are hd or just ordinary one?
