Asus is my favorite brand. I really like asus because their laptop generally have good screen and descent build quality. (the first asus i owned was a C90S, besides the O.K screen, the sound chip on that notebook was excellent, no hissing and the sound was crispy clear even with a se530!) . I've been looking for asus laptop on every purchase I always ended up buying other brand because asus is not making the laptop with specs that matches my preferences!!
after owning msi, dell, lenovo, apple, and HP I found that I favor Asus the most (my x200s had very good build quality, but the screen is small and below average. I also owned a macbook pro 13, I was very happy with it except the sound and incompatibility with softwares i am required to use...And the dv6tse im using right now is a TOTAL disappointment)
since my school work require me to carry my laptop around on daily basis and i often have to create and edit large spread sheets. I'm really hoping that asus will make a premium U-series 15-17" with matte FHD screen on the upcoming sandy-bridge platforms. maybe a design that follows EEE 1218? (or macbook pro?) I also hope the notebook will use external optical so it can stay thin and have more battery space...
Well this is just my opinion. I wonder if asus will have anything like this come out soon![]()

Long battery life and FHD 15/17 inch are two opposing ideas - portable and desktop replacement. I think it's too much of a niche product for them to produce.
Personally, if I've got a 17inch taking up space, I want it to be powerful too. -
DCx is spot on . This site may be of help
If such a machine existed I would be interested in it.

this should be possible, if apple can make high performance, thin, long-battery 17" laptops since 2008, i don't see why can't any other manufacture make one such machine in 2011. a NV 540m or AMD 68XXm on optimus + 100 whr battery should be able to last a long time.
15~17" FHD, long battery, thin-n-light from asus anytime soon?
