    Anyone using 195.55 drivers,

Have you guys experienced higher gpu temps and powermizer not working even when the laptop is idling?

Also, running 3dmark06, my gpu is pushing 97C max.

Good, bad? what should i do? cry? lol

97C running 3dmark 06 is very high. What laptop do you have and did you add IC 24 paste to your cpu and gpu?
    Did you use a cooler?

I have a G51VX-RX05. No, i have not physically modified anything on my Laptop. I do use a Laptop Cooler, the Rosewill http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834998492 Also, i was playing Mass Effect, and i noticed my temps going through the roof, 98C Maxed. On Win7 it idled at around 80. I wasn't sure if it was the OS, or just the 195.55 drivers, but i'm starting to think that its' the 195.55 drivers that are causing the heat increase.

Can anyone confirm? or help me alleviate this?

195.55 do run hotter. Even on my M15x they raised idle GPU temps and caused the fan to start running when normally it's off with other drivers. Ditch them and use the 186.81 WHQL, they work great.

Damn, i should have known. I had my comp perfectly set up, I end up formatting it to Win7, w/ the 195 drivers, and see the thing is blazing; curse the living hell out of Win7, thinking that's the cause. I go back to Vista, still stuck w/ the 195 drivers. Ahh, I hate uninstalling drivers, but i also hate formatting.

Tough choice, Flash H/W accel, or lower temps w/ working powermizer. Decisions =(

Check GPU-Z when you idle at 80C, is it running full 3d mode or throttle down to 200mhz?

I really like dox 185.85 driver. You should give that a try

Are the new drivers 195.50/ 195.55/ 195.62 any better in terms of performace compared to 185.85/ 186.42?

i did a few tests on xp (no time to do 7), 195.55 turned out to the best. didn't notice any change in temps (though i never really checked often in the first place). idle still remains around the 63-64 mark in a 21c room. furmark equalizes at 95 after 15 minutes.

185.85 was before i kept track, but it got apx 70 less in SM2 than 195.55.

Whoops.. see I should have posted in this thread instead. So I'll just link and summarize too:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=5588001&postcount=18

Using 195.55 I'm idling around 55-56c, furmark around 92c. If anything, I find them cooler than DOX and HD Flash + HD Youtube accelerated. They are a touch slower than DOX in some games however, under Win7 at least.
