I have a N53JQ, and it has 2 drives...one is OS (C :) and the other is DATA (D :). The problem is, that the C drive which is my system drive is only 150gb, and the other drive (D) is 450GB...the D drive is empty, and I would like to transfer my music to that drive because for some reason the music folder leads to the C drive instead of the D...

Is there a way I can make there 1 drive (only a C drive)...?

This thread sounds really stupid....

I think the N53JQ only comes with one HDD bay, and thus one hard drive. However, Asus loves partitions, so your hard drive is split into two partitions. All you have to do is go into disk management, delete your D partition, and extend your C partition with the freed-up space.

you must have one 640 gb hard drive in two partitions.

So, if I want to transfer my music and whatnot, I can just make cut and paste the music library folder to the drive?

Yeah. Just send it over to the C: drive, delete the D:, and finish by extending C:

I would do it, but I don't know if it's safe to do it...will it modify anything?

It'll wipe out the D: partition is all. Nothing will happen to C:.

Sorry, how exactly do I do this? I searched for Disk Management on the start menu, but not came up except PDF files and what not...

Search for computer management. Click first result. Go to storage tab, expand, and find disk management. Click.

Right click D:. Delete volume. Now, right click C: and extend volume. Ta-da.

I deleted D and I right clicked but expand volume is greyed out. I also see a drive with no name on the list. it says healthy (primary partition)
I have researched on Google on this, and apparently I need a recovery disc, which I don't have :(

I have searched around, and found a 3rd party program called " Magic Partition Home edition"

    Is that any good?

Well, darn. I guess you can reformat D: and just put everything back.

In a way, small Windows/C: partition will help performance because you've short-stroked it. The Windows files will be on the outermost part of your HDD and thus accessed the fastest.

It's how I set up my Dellienware: 150GB for Windows and programs, the rest of the 500GB on the other partition.

I will probably try and get D back. I would rather a larger HD to be honest. How do I format D and get it back? Sorry, i'm not very smart when it comes to computers.

EDIT: So there's no real solution to fixing it?

Simple. Go back to disk manage and select the unformatted area, right click, and select new volume. Follow the steps, select quick format, and there you go.

Thanks :p What can I do to get my HD to be one whole one instead of 2? Could there be any 3rd party programs which can do this? Because, the 425GB is now a waste of space because D has nothing in it. Plus, I noticed that when I formatted it, it changed from 450GB to 425GB. what happened to the 25GBs?

    EDIT: I tried this:

    --Basically open a command prompt
    ---type "diskpart"
    ---type "list disk"
    ---type "select disk 0"
---type "list volume" (find your main C: one, it should be the largest parition...)
---type "select volume 1" (i believe that is the one it was for me)
    ---type "extend"

but got an error on the last but when typing extend
