    Why are there two power buttons on the G2S-A1? When the one in front of the keyboard is used, I see any exploding Asus logo prior to booting Windows, and when the one below the keyboard is used, a rainbow-coloured Asus logo is shown before booting the OS. Can someone tell me why this and if there is a difference between using the two power buttons? Thanks!

    The one below the keyboard used to be able to start just the DVD/CD playing function of the computer without having to boot to the OS, but I think it only works in XP.

    So it should have the exact same function as the standard power button in Vista?

    On the G1S, the power button in front of the keyboard launches into Windows Media Center instead of Vista.

    Not positive if it's the same as the G2

    when I press the one in front of the keyboard it loads vista, then loads up wmc. doesn't make sense.

    Yes, it does that on my G1S. It launches Vista, then immediately into WMC. Or, if I'm already in Vista, it will then launch WMC. Odd, I agree, but that's what it's doing.

    Hey guys.

    There's a great security bug with the ASUS power buttons.

    See the steps:

    1) Set up a password for the notebook Power Startup (thru the BIOS setup);

    2) Power it on using the 1st power button (the one right of the OLED display);

    3) The windows will start with the "fire asus logo" and them will ask the user for a password. For now, that's exactly what we want.

    4) Now let's power it on using the 2nd power button (the WMC one, next to the Mousepad);

    5) The "rainbow asus logo" is shown but, no password is asked. The Windows Media Center is started as well, but I just have to close it to enjoy full system access.

    What you think about that?

    Regards,
    Diego Queiroz

    i think you should contact asus and let them know. Theres gotta be a bug report or ticket open on this issue, and if there isnt...then one needs to be opened.
