240HZ Notebook!

First alienware with their new Area notebook and now Asus with this sweet thing. 2019 starting great!!!

 

Finally! A 240hz refresh rate in a notebook LCD. I like this better than 4k 60hz. Hopefully Clevo can put these in their new 17 inch chassis to push Rtx 2080s. Everything conceivably will look better.

The hero ii and scar ii suffer from throttling issues with a 1060 and 1070. I imagine the 20xx will be the same. Also wern’t you the same guy bashing the possibility of rtx laptops not a few weeks ago?

Every single pascal notebook throttles. That's common knowledge. Also I don't care about performance. The fact that Asus did this only makes other people do it as well.

 

What's the point of 240Hz compared to 144Hz ? Besides increasing the price. I hardly believe many people reaches 144+ fps in their games, unless they play with everything ultra low or games like CS:GO which are not intensive. 144Hz is plenty enough. They should focus more on color accuracy, brightness, light bleed (that's not the screen but the way its incorporated). etc.

Pascal cards in notebooks does not throttle per say It just auto overclock and adapts depending on the temperatures, my 1070 is in the 60-70°C in-game and that's excellent for me, many notebooks have very good GPU temps,...it's the CPU thermals that are bad usually.

 

Nope, its a real power limit throttle. The card itself reports power limit throttling, which makes sense considering the chips are made for much higher power limits. Go start afterburner and turn powerlimit notification on, you'll see how it spams power limit: 1, same with HWinfo and all other tools that reads the cards.
