Ask yourself (a) how long you expect to keep the computer before you get the urge to replace it: An extended warranty may not be worth much on the resale market; and (b) are you likely to be away from a mains supply for long enough to need extra battery capacity: The bay battery is no substitute for a spare main battery which you can put in when the original battery gets tired.
Both these options are effectively insurance that gives you some peace of mind. You choose, and pay, or take the risk. The one thing you can be certain of is that within two years your main battery will have suffered a significant loss of capacity and neither of the above options help you with that problem.
Maybe you should buy neither and keep your money ready for upgrading the RAM or HDD or buying a new main battery.

I want to use this laptop for at least 3 years.
I am already upgrading the RAM and HDD th best i can :
Upgrade 512M x 1 to 1024M x 2 ------- $200
Get Combo to DVDRW upgrade Free
Upgrade to 7200rpm 8M 60G $90
Centrino - 1.86G( 750 ) $1571
So after two years, the battery would slowly go down so I should an extra battery in the optical bay?
I think I'll get both and pay my father around 100$ for the extra but I am not sure yet. I am ordering this laptop this weekend -
What you can do is get the warranty and dont upgrade your ram leave it at 512mb. Then add 1gb yourself for 100 or cheaper and modular bay is only 90s range in US. This way you can get both of what u want for almost same price. :asus:
