I was just at the store yesterday, and I *think* that x83Vb-X2 is the same one I saw in store, even though it says it's not available in store. It's another N80 variant, and basically the same as that ugly Gold X1 one, except with an updated (apparently?) CPU.

Does anyone know for sure if it has an LED backlit screen? I stared at the boxes yesterday, and couldn't see that it said it did, but it also didn't say it had mercury in it.

Oh, and indeed, yesterday in store that x2 was $680, not $630. At the new price it's sort of tempting as a 'hold out' system until better stuff comes along...IF it has an LED backlight instead of CCFL.

One weird thing about Best Buy-they appear to be opening all the systems now ahead of time. The seals are all broken, and they have "optimized" stickers on them. How lame is that? I don't want an open/used system that might be missing parts.

Don't know if a 16 processor GPU would sort of run kind of my backlog of games or not. EDIT: I take that back. That's NOT even a 16 processor part, it's only 8! Yikes. No thanks. The n80-x5 is a bit under $400 more, but it's got at least 4x the GPU, and quite a bit faster CPU, so...I guess it makes sense :(

I completely agree about the "optimizing" BB is doing now. I went into my local store a couple of days ago for an exchange because the G50 I bought had a faulty wireless card. They had 3 in stock and 2 were already opened by GeekSquad. I made sure they gave me the one that hadn't been touched yet. The unfortunate thing is, now that BestBuy is doing, I'm sure otehr outfits will follow suit. If I'm paying $1000 for a product, NO ONE is touching it before I do.

They really out to give at least a 15% discount or whatever since it's open box. Makes me mad :(

Yeah I don't see how they get off charging 15% restocking fee if I break the seal on the box and don't actually touch the contents, yet they open the box, take everything out and use the system and modify it, and STILL charge the 15% if you use it afterwards.

    Ridiculous.

Coupled with that and my recent bad experience with them over the aforementioned exchange, I am seriously considering never shopping with BestBuy again.
