I'm just curious as to how different these are, and what the numbers mean.

From what I've read and seen, in 3dMark05, the x1600 gets higher marks than the Go 7600, but in 3dMark06, the Go7600 gets higher marks than the 1600, on stock drivers.

    Anybody have explanations for these?

Just asking, coz ppl keep saying that the x1600 gets higher marks than 7600, but they are running the 05 version. Shouldn't we be running the newer 06?

What score did you get on '06 Oc'ed? And the only thing I have heard is that the 512MB's of dedicated RAM really help out on '06, but don't matter on '05. You can then compare with Mastha212's score. He got 2417 marks.

When video cards are rendering image/graphics, under different and certain circumstances, two difference video cards can perform really differently despite they are of the same class/calibre.

If you didn't understand that, is basically means, some cards will perform better under different games that are programmed differently.

Lets assume one game uses OpenGL for their programing, ATI cards might be slightly faster there, when comparing Nvidia cards of the same class/calibre.

So its ok if a cards performs better in one section than another. Aslong as the two video cards are of the same class/calibre then your ok.

    Hope that helps,

    Thanks,

519,519 I run benches couple of times and there were no arts but I won't be using this any more. 510/510 is the max (safe max ;) )

All X1600 are not the same, each chip can have different overclocking potential just like CPUs, there are some that are really lucky.

Manufacturing chips are not all 100% the same, there will always be differences.

    Thanks,

Ditto. Besides 8204 are 15,4 so I think there's also more space in the laptop case so the cooling system can be bigger/better.

I know every chip is different. But I just found it strange that no one has reported anywhere near 5k in 3dmark05 with an X1600 in an Asus notebook. Not even in the S96j.
