If I purchased 2 x 2GB RAM modules, would it work in my W2Jc?

I currently have 2 x 1GB modules, which is the maximum amount according to the tech specs.

However, this was probably written before the days you could actually even buy 2Gb SODIMM modules. Even if you could have got them a year or two back, they would have been stupidly expensive for average consumers.

Now that memory prices have crashed, I'd love to put 4Gb in my laptop.

Can it be done, or do we have to wait for laptops designed for that amount of memory?

It certainly isnt cheap, and I know that Vista 32bit won't take advantage of the full 4Gb, but I'm sure there would be some benefit even with Vista 32bit, let alone going to 64bit.

    Crucial 2Gb SODIMM - pricey!

Price crash? Did I miss something  2gb single ram sticks are still very expensive comparatively

Besides, you're OK with 2gb now. Even with Vista and DX10 games such as Crysis on the way, I find the consensus is that 4gb will still be overkill in a couple of years.

Vista 32 will use all 4 GBs.

Good to know Vista 32 would use it, but would it work? Would the laptop boot up? Tech specs say maximum RAM is 2Gb (2 x 1Gb)

Just wondering, is 4GB the limit to a 32bit system?

That article puts it quite nicely. In any case, you'd be better served just getting 2 GB and saving the money for the next laptop you plan on buying.

While Vista is a freakin' memory hog, fact of the matter is that you probably won't be hitting 2GB unless you're doing some heavy gaming or video editing, in which case you'd be better off with a full-blown desktop.
