    4gb ram = overkill?

    Im thinking of getting the G1s...wondering if 4gb ram wud be overkill. or should i just stick to 2 gb?

    There's no such thing as having too much memory. Although 4GB may not be the sweet spot in terms of price/performance. If you can afford it, go ahead and get it; you'll be more future proof. :-]

    Depending on what you are running, getting a 4GB may or may not be overkill. If you're running super-memory intensive apps, then go for the 4GB.

    Vista won't be able to manage more than 3.5 anyway... So unless you install a real 64bits OS, that's maybe a bit expensive. 3Go could be the way to go to begin. At least you can use all of them.

    64bit Vista is free if you buy retail 32bit. (minus 10$ s&h)

    If the sweet spot theory is correct then you would be paying more to decrease your performance. That is unless you are going to be using an x64 system.

    i got the original G1.. with vista 32

    and the ram rarely goes over 1 gig... ive NEVER seen it go over 1.3gb even while gaming...

    it is overkill unless you are doing some serious stuff...
