    Hello Everyone,

So I am recently new to the gaming laptop line of thinking, and I cant seem how to connect my laptop upto my 4k screen (not for hard core gaming, but light gaming/movies).
The Monitor (AOC 28" 4k) has HDMI, Displayport, DVI and VGA.
The laptop has Mini-Display port, HDMI and USB 3.

With the HDMI, I can get a picture, but have to set everything to 30hz (limitation of HDMI 1.2).
With Most displayport adapters (Mini to full size DP), I run into the same limitation as the HDMI, with the rest, I get no image on the screen, but the computer acts as if it is displaying an image (If I have it set to only use a single monitor, it will disable my laptop screen while displaying nothing on the AOC, which will then go power saving).

Is there a magic Mini DP to full DP cable that I need, or have i just been very unlucky with the standard of cable that I am getting?
Is it worth looking into USB3 to Display port adaptors (all the ones I have looked into only state 2k, but I know USB3 can do 4k).

    Any help would be great.
    Wofen

You don't need any special adapters. mini dp should be able to push 4k 60. minidp to dp adapter does not convert anything. It should push the video signal right through.

Is there anything in the nvidia control panel that lets you extend the monitors?
