That's a tad bit high, but not fatal. CPUs can usually go into the 90s before they shut down to prevent frying.

I suggest you get a cooling pad and then undervolt. You will be able to knock those temps down well into the 60s with that.

Also, what is your ambient temp? You must live in Africa or something.

Is 80C your idle temperature or full load temperature?

Wow what are your ambient temps? Also, make sure your heatsinks and fans are not clogged with dust.

Its a brand new g1s so no dust. The cooler works fine to. My Idle temps are around the late 60s but then she gets going shell get into the late 70s and like i said may hit 80 for a second. I alost have disabled throttling becuase it was throttling the machine every 2 seconds.

why is it high ??? the cpu has a tj.max of 100º !! so 80 is well bellow 100º.

undervolt is good but to gain a few extras minutes of battery in this case.

    don't worry about it.

Yeah 80C isn't bad at all for full load. I wouldn't worry about it. Blow it out with a can of compressed air every few months and you should be fine.

well, seriously now. my F3F used to be at idle around 40, not it never gets below 52. it has a lil over a year but I cleaned the fans 2 months ago. I also put two small books to keep air flowing better but no luck? any advices?

Well maybe the heatsink thermal compound has lost its properties. To replace it though you need to void the warranty by removing the heatsink.

How did you clean the fans? Did you open it up? If not you should do it, compressed air can only go so far in cleaning a notebook.

As to the OP: 80 on full load is reasonable, 60 on idle is somewhat worrying.

    Hi.

you have to be careful with compressed air, canned air, as you can get water droplets as well, not good!

    regards

    John.

yeah I did open it and cleaned it with compressed air and also a cotton swab. how can the heat sink lose its properties? isn't it just a piece of metal? how could that happen?

Only if you're willing to give up warranty, which I don't advise.

I restate my question, how thoroughly did you clean your fans the last time? And when?

Well, stock thermal compounds are usually crap, but does the job just fine if you don't plan on overclocking. If you do decide to replace your thermal compound, I'd suggest getting AS5. It's currently the best in the market.

I thought it was only the CPU? GPU also voids warranty?

I'm not sure if GPU heatsink is stuck with a warranty seal, but for (I think) many computers it's irrelevant because the two heatsinks are too close together to be removed separately (since they go to the same fan & vent).

This would be different for system with dedicated GPU fan.
