Guys, I just got my 8600gt. pretty exited so far.

I tried to push the core/memory to 570/570 with no problem; it scored about 47** and I am pretty happy.

However, I started to be a little bit worried when monitoring the temp, it reaches 76C or even a little bit higher when running 3dmark06 and is 54C Idel. Is it a bit too high?

Actually, another thing surprised me a bit is that the core is actually running at 621 instead of 570 when running games. It is a bug or just a big edge that Rivatuner gave me?

    Your input is highly appreciated/

hmmm, if your really running it at 620 in game and only getting 76c, youve got yourself something special

i oc'd my 8600gt ddr2 to 620 core and 570 memory, and i got 4,731 3dmark06, but my temps went up to 85c, which is pretty warm IMO.

IMO those are great temps, if you are on a laptop. I do not overclock and my GPU temp at idle is 68 degrees. In game it goes to ~82.

    Thanks for your all. ppl.
I only set the core at 570 but actually it is running at 620, don't why.

It is maximized at 76 when 3dmarking.

I tried NFS just now it hits 84C.

Sounds you guys don't have an issue with the temp, should I keep Ocing?

So far it seems like you and me are the only ones able to overclock that high with the gpu temp around 85C. Ive never taken my core clock over 600 though. Dont forget to test for stability with the battery out. That way if something goes wrong you can pull the power cord for immediate shutdown. I recommend playing the COD4 demo. Its the only game that would crash if I overclocked too much...everythin else ran fine.

    I can't even hit 500mhz on mine =/

My desktop one is stable at 730/900 (GT XXX, running at GTS voltage, standard voltaged desktop GT max is arround 630), and it stops beingstable because it's missing power Some people have gotten 1000mhz 8600GTS with the volt mode (GTS ha an extra power connector, max on GT is 800)

What drivers do you have? ive heard that some of the drivers prevent overclocking.
