Does anyone sell the 8AJm without an OS? I can get a free copy of XP pro through school ( I really paid for it with tuition), so I do not need it on my lappy when I get it. I think I have it narrowed my decision down to the 8AJm, and Compal HGL30, however I can configure the HGL30 cheaper since I can configure it without an operating system.

    Thanks,

    Nick

Nope, because its an Ensemble notebook, it comes with Windows mandatory. Its kinda like trying to get Dell or Sony to sell you a laptop without Windows. It wont happen.

as stated by ric3r, the A8jm is NOT a whitebook.. Whitebooks being notebooks that can be bought as minimal as its barebones (i.e no OS, no HD, no CPU, etc).

any sites that offer customization on these Ensemble notebooks (A8jm, W3J, etc) will simply upgrade the HD, CPU, etc from the already pre configured notebook.. which is why you hardly ever see them offer lower spec'd options for those who want to cut costs.. as you're already paying for the base configuration.

Well, does ASUS have a 14" whitebook that has the intel core duo chipset and a dedicated GPU. I would be willing to settle for a 7400 or X1400 card, but the 7600 card would be nice, or this could have made up my mind to get the Compal...

yes, the Z62J, although it'd be a tad shy of your gpu requirement. It uses the Nvidia 7300 card.
