I'm looking for a laptop for college, and the W7J seems perfect for me - except for the poor battery life. 2.5-hour battery life just seems to defeat the purpose of having a 13in laptop. Is there a 9-cell battery that is compatible with W7J? If so, does anybody have it that could give some feedback on how much extra time it gives, added weight, etc?

It hasnt been released to my knowledge. There was speculation it was the same as the W5F 9 cell... but the connection was different. Patiently waiting the same question myself.

i spoke to proportable, and they said the 9-cells usually come out a month after the W7J is released. So it may be until late August before they arrive in the US.

on battery saving mode, 3rd lowest level brightness, powermizer battery saving and underclocking the 7400 for 100/270 Mhz with coolbitz, I can get 3hr and 10 min. If that's enough for you then you can stick with the 6 cell. But on those settings You'd be able to get 4 and half hour of battery life on 9 cell, which is also very nice.

Without underclocking I have been getting 3 hrs. And i really dont need much more then that, I'm just thinking it might come in handy to have 2 batts.

I bought my w7j in Singapore and I got an extra 6 cell battery for free. Personally, I think thats the best solution. Incidentally, 3rd lowest brightness setting is just fine unless you are using it in an area with bright lighting :)
