Well with my A1, I want to know what drivers work for the 9800M GS without compatability issues.

Is there a performance gain in switching to the 180.70?

there's nothing special about this card that should make it incompatible... Dox,a LV2G drivers are very good, they smooth gameplay quite a lot I hear. I never installed them myself because I could never get a clear description of how to install Dox's safely, with driver cleaner etc...
I'm on stock LV2G 180.70 and nothing seems to be going badly wrong..

Dude you have to get the 180.70 DOX. My opinion is only use DOX as he customizes the drivers for mobile GPUs only. They are really good and I can play anything on this laptop (same as yours). He lowers the max fps but raises the min fps so you get better game play overall and he fixes a bunch of bugs and does some optimizations. Stick with his releases.
