I've been seeing it on special (25% off) for a few weeks now and it seems like stores just want to get rid of them.

I was also reading lots of articles about the 3D experience making people dizzy and sick after just 30 minutes of game play.

My brother is considering getting one, but I told him to hold off since I can't justify a few extra hundreds if it makes people dizzy/sick.

    What do you guys think?

It's a total gimmick and not worth it at all. They are dumping the g51-3d stock they have because the upcoming g53/g73jw will have 3d gimmick options, and probably because 3d is just really unpopular on computers now. Even if you REALLY want 3d, check back in a few years...

I'll wait until they have holodecks or holograms.

200 more years and holodecks should be available :p Sometimes I feel as if I should of been born several hundred years from now to experience the futuristic technology we see on TV/movies, because most of it turns into a reality, it's just a matter of time.

That's no fun. Just imagine how exciting it was for people when the first modern computer was made? Then seeing the computer become a consumer device, and then... the interwebs... Living to see innovations like that is something I would die for.
Sure, tech is changing every minute, but nothing major like the advent of portable computers... or Windows 95. I plan on seeing some amazing things and hopefully something close to holograms will be there. :3

It's not about popularity, not enough power. Even with a desktop GTX 480, users are saying that there isn't enough power for 3D.

Plus 3D actually detracts a ton of detail and quality from the image. It's just bad all around.
