I was wondering if those that have been effectively been able can outline the steps required to do so. I have never owned a notebook so I am fairly new to this territory. Also could you post how you feel running XP on this machine? I need to run XP x86 in order to access my University's internet, so responses will be greatly appreciated.

I think it works fairly well. I'm still on the fence concerning which O.S. I'll be running primarily. I'm leaning more towards Vista, but there are some bugs/driver issues that are bothersome. But then again, they can be fixed.

You'll find everything you need in terms of steps in these two threads:

    G1S XP Driver Pack: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20070629030121296&board_id=3&model=G1S&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

    G1S XP SATA Installation: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20070731141139875&board_id=3&model=G1S&page=1&SLanguage=en-us

You will need to integrate the SATA drivers into your XP CD. Also, I would recommend downloading the XP Driver pack, but replacing some of them with more recent drivers. I know I managed to get a newer Realtek HD XP driver, and Intel's INF driver + Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

Things will be a bit different, especially with the ASUS programs. But it works pretty well.
