Hello Everyone,
I've spent the last couple of hours trying to figure out how to wake my W2V from standby with a click of the mouse. In normal situations there should be a 'Power Management' tab under 'Device Settings' > Mouse (right click properties), but for some reason it is not there in WinXP Media Edition from what I can find. Usually (as in my desktop), under this tab is a checkbox that allows the device to wake the machine from standby.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this to work or where this option is located?
In addition, I have a question about the W2V versions. The version I received from StarTech did not come with a ME remote and usb IR device. What I have is a generic remote control of some sort. The package I received had the alternate carrying bag and an external antenna also, which I guess is different from what most are receiving. I have spoken with StarTech and they are looking into it, but I was just wondering if anyone else received the same style of remote, and whether or not they were able to get it to work with Media Center. The remote works perfectly fine with the Asus Media software, but I can't get it to do anything in Media Center.
Anyway any help would be great. Thanks!

I've got to look at mine again, but I'm fairly certain under the power settings the options were there.....
There are 2 models........ The W2vc and W2vb..... the Vc model is the model that originally shipped to the US without the OS and with the wrong tv tuner....... Asus took them back, loaded MCE and put in the correct tuner........ they forgot to change the remotes.... Startech should have called and told you that Asus will swap those remotes for you when they get them in stock. I mentioned this at the begining of the week...
The Vb model will not have Asus mobile theather or those two remotes..... and it'll have a different bag.
The Vc model shipped with the remotes for asus mobile theater....... Asus mobile theater does not work with the tuner that Asus had to install for MCE though... so you can't watch tv on asus mobile theater....... Make sense?
I know SRD got the W2vc model (he wanted the extra remotes, antenna and asus mobile theater software).... I'm not sure if anyone else on the forum got them, but basically I know we shipped about 30 of the Vc models and the 2nd shipment came in as Vc and about 15 of those shipped out and we've got abouto 15 left with another 10 coming on Monday....... Some of those 10 on Monday are supposed to be Vc models..... It's not a big deal, Asus is going to replace the remotes for Vc owners.. and they get to keep all the extra stuff they got.
... this was the main reason we didn't ship until Wednesday...... once we replaces the tv tuners, we tested them out and realized the remotes didn't work and the tv tuner didn't work in the mobile theater side.............. We waited to ship until Asus confirmed they'd ship the proper remotes and basically everything was running how it was supposed to. Don't worry, but tell Startech to give Asus your address or call Asus directly and tell them you've got a Vc model and need the remote and reciever when they come in. Asus is also going to ship a copy of Microsoft Works to you as well....... the Vb models are coming with them and whether you'll use it or not, we asked that they import copies of that as well and supply them to those customers with Vc models. -
Hi Justin,
Thanks for the explanation. I had spoken with John at StarTech and he was waiting on a response from Asus on the subject, I was just checking to see if others had any other results yet. I'm glad Asus is taking responsibility and handling the situation properly.
I looked under the power settings many times, but didn't have much luck finding anything there. It would be great if you could take a look, and maybe you have something different than I do that will point me in the right direction.
Thanks again. -
There you go............
