Hi guys, I would appreciate it if all you owners of the F3SV (AP) could answer some of my questions, thanks.

    1. How is the battery life when playing games, surfing the internet using full brighness or half brightness screen etc?
    2. How is the quality of the screen? Is is glossy?
    3. Does the laptop come with recovery software DVD's? Can you get the laptop to factory condition if something goes wrong?
    4. Is it solidly built?

    Jam.

I'm not an owner but I can give some approximate and in some cases exact answers.

    2. Probably glossy screen, there hasn't been a matte screen in the ASUS lineup for quite a while.
    3. Yes, recovery DVD/CDs and even with a recovery partition, assuming it's an ensemble which I think it is, by the name.
    4. The "F" series are rather at the bottom of the ASUS build quality. However, this makes them rather average when one looks at the entire laptop industry, since ASUS is generally better in build quality than other firms, and ASUS business notebooks have excellent build. In summary, you can expect average build quality.

If you can wait abit there is also the F3Ka. It comes directly with 2GB of RAM and has a Radoen 2600 wich is better than the 8600GS.

The CPU is the let down though, Turion X2 TL-60 but it's no big deal

    1. The batt. life on the F3 series isnt spectacular. Most users can get around 2 hours w/ avg use.
    2. The screen quality is absolutely spectacular. If you get the f3sv-b1. you will be wowed by its screen. Definitely the best ive ever seen IMHO.
    3. Answered already above
    4. The laptop is solidly built. Blows dell, and HP out of the water. Still better than lenovo

I've done quite a lot of waiting already to buy a new laptop tbh. The F3sv comes with 2GB already installed in the UK and also an 8600 GS will be much more than I need seeing that my other potential laptop contains an 8400 GT 128mb Vram.

Shame I can't find the b1 in the UK although I think clarity should be the same throughout models - only thing different is the WXGA resolution. I'm just a bit worried about battery life. I want atleast 2hrs of battery for internet surfing or word processing etc.

Lastly, anyone have any real-life pics of the F3sv. Some close ups will be nice too. :D

Oh you're in the UK? Okay then, yeah the models are abit different. You also have the F3SA overthere, same as this one with the radeon rather than the geforce.

For the battery you can always buy another one if one is not enough

Yeh I guess so. I don't think battery life will bother me too much actually as I'll only be using it around the house and I have many sockets where I can use the AC adapter.
