Can i program the CD keys to be incorporated with win amp?

A good short reading on hibernation vs. standby can be found here. As for setting the laptop to continue what it's doing with the lid closed- go into power options in control panel, click on the "Advanced" tab and set the "When I close the lid of my portable computer" to "Do nothing". There, you'll be set. :D

Asus doesn't provide software to do this, but it's possible with a hacked version of the HControl utility, which is responsible for handling the extra buttons. You can find more info about it here:

    http://power4gear.bk-kicks.com/hcontrol.htm

There are still issues with various laptops and media players, and I haven't played around with it too much, so if you have more specific questions you could ask on the forum on that site.

thanks guys, that was a great help.

one question tho, how do you change the setting for the hcontrol program, when i load it up it just runs in the back ground and nothing appers.

If I remember right, I don't believe the program actually has a user interface -- it's only meant to run in the background. When you actually launch the program, it does nothing except monitor the extra buttons on the notebook (just like the original HControl program supplied by Asus, which loads when Windows starts). All the settings for the program (what media player to use, etc) are stored in the registry. See the installation section on the HControl page for how to set these.
