I am looking into getting either an Asus G1 or G2, or a Sager NP2090. I was looking at how I could customize it on xoticpc.com, and on the G1S, it said it had 512 mb of memory for the video card, 256 on the board, 256 in Turbocache. On the G2S, it simply says 256 mb on the board, with no Turbocache. My question is, does the G2S have Turbocache as well, or not?

Yes the G1S and G2S are essentially the same graphic wise. Regardless of whether it states it has turbocache or not, the GPU will take ram if needed to help smoothen graphics when gaming.

Aside from the obvious 15.4" and 17" laptop comparison, it looks like you are also comparing the style of laptop you want, a unique style offered by the G1 and G2, or a more simplistic and contempary style of the Sager.

    Anyways, I hope this helps.

I also have a similar question. What exactly is the difference between the G1S and G2S except for the price, screensize and weight, and a few more external ports? Is there any difference in performance or ability to overclock?

Hmm, I dont think there really is a difference between the two except for those you stated (price, screensize, weight and a few more external ports...) The performance should be the same if you look at the specs. The thing you really need to ask yourself when you chose between the G1S and the G2S is "Do I really need a laptop that I can carry around or do I need a desktop replacement?" Because I dont think the G2S is the best thing to carry with you for the health of your back and shoulders LOL it may get annoying.

Cool. Thanks. Just once last question. I see that on both models there are coloured lights on both sides of the screen, I think the G1 is green and then G2 red. Perhaps vise-versa. Well the question is when do those lights turn on, are there any more flashy lights, and can i turn them off manually without the use of a hammer?
Oh and sorry for using your threat Guilo. I just didn't want to start another because the title fits my need...

Exactly, the G1S lights are green (as well as the "evil eye" below the touchpad haha) and the G2S lights are red. They turn on when you are using DirectX, so when you play games, they flash. I think what's annoying is that the lights are not constant they're always flashing. The only other thing with a green light is this little eye below the touchpad but it is not annoying really because its not flashing like the lights on the screen sides. The good news is that Yes you can turn them off via the Asus utility that's installed on the G1S (or the G2S, depending on your final choice haha). You can't disable the eye light though. LOL the hammer thing was funny.

The eye light can be turned off by disabling the touchpad. In the g1s, there is a row of buttons on the top right, the one in the middle is the shortcut key to disabling the touch pad.

That's correcy Chey, there's an Asus utility called, Direct Console, this allows you to turn off the lights, and also play around with the little LCD below the screen.

You can adjust it to say whatever you want, and use smileys, plus integrate it with MSN.

Ok, thanks, and no problem Spider 3000. The main reason I looked at the Sager was because it is cheaper for the same components (for the most part).

I have no idea, however, in the program with the smileys, is there a text box or something you can type into?

I was initially going for the G1S, but changed my mind when I saw it beside a G2S. The LCD on the G2S is a lot brighter (has two lamps). The G1S's LCD actually looked quite dull beside it :) Also because of the added brightness, the reflection on the glossy LCD surface was a lot less on the G2S.
The G2S also appeared to have a wider viewing radius.

    Best regards,
    Ingimundur
