Right now I am debating whether to get the z70v or the future new z70va (refresh).

My concern is not about the money. My worry is the heat and the fan noise that can come from it. Right now a lot of people are anxious about the newer version because of the x700 graphic card, but what about the heat. The worse battery life is as expected but I am not as concern about it as much as the heat and the noisy fan.

Any of you guys who are waiting for the z70va (refresh) worry about the heat and fan noise? I would rather get the regular z70v if these problems occur in the newer model.

I'm sure it wouldnt be a problem. I would say anyone would adapt to it and wouldnt mind a little extra heat and/or fan noise for a stronger video card. As for me, I'm very happy with the current Z70V, but I'll be waiting on the reviews of the refreshed when it comes out. The only way to truely know about what you're asking, is to wait until it finally comes out. ;)

The more power you have, the more heat it creates....... it's no secret the x700 runs hotter than the x600 (not by much, but it still does) .... so that's just more heat to get rid of. If you need the power, you're going to have to live with it no matter what system you get. However, if you're just getting it to get it and don't need it, you may complain about it. I can't say they're "loud" or anything, but if you don't need dedicated graphics at all....... a system with integrated can certainly have lower fan speeds to keep up with less heat.

Although slightly off topic but still relating to the z70va, will SATA be supported in this? If not, any idea if any 15.4" models besides the z71v will support SATA in the near future (i.e. the next couple months).

    TIA

Good question, but I honestly can't say yes, but I doubt it since it wasn't mentioned. I'll check into it, but again, I don't think so.

Any update as to whether the Z70va will support SATA? If not, any other models on the horizon which will (besides the Z71v)? TIA

One thing to keep in mind is the GPU's proc/mem speed can easily be throttled back with their included utility (Power4Gear?)... with my X600 I can choose to run at 400, 200, or 100 mHz. By default it sets the speed to 200 on battery and 100 at 25% batt, but you can configure it any which way you want.
