Well it's been quite a while since I recieved my C90s. Just recently I've been contemplating if this was what I really wanted/needed for school and work and play. I've always been a bit of a power user and I never cared for ultraportables. Anyways, after really looking at what my C90 has given me I can honestly say it was the absolute perfect fit. From taking my laptop to school for work there to bringing it home and to friend's houses it has been the perfect companion. It has even accompanied me on a business trip and I thoroughly enjoyed having it with me. Sure the low battery life and heavy weight are turn offs but the ability to have what is essentially a desktop to go is amazing. There has been nothing I have asked my C90 to do that it hasn't been able to.
Why just this past weekend alone I was using my C90 as a mobile workstation to do some schoolwork done for a group project, used it to edit and piece together some music files (very hard on the cpu and ram), used it to DJ my weekly radio show, and play some call of duty 4. It has been the absolute best choice possible for me and I think I would have been very dissatisfied with anything else. I almost got a dell like all of my friends but I decided to be different so I looked elsewhere. I can't remmeber what all I looked at but i do remember scoffing at the 15" alienware's price, I remember thinking MSI was screwed up somewhere for their "performance" notebooks, and I remember being scared away form ibuypoower due to quality issues. I stumbled upon Asus books by looking at a Z84 I believe. Looking around from site to site I eventually discovered the C90 and this site as well. Seeing that people had practically made an owners club sold me on it, I shopped and shopped until I found the best deal I could for what I wanted: 1toppc gave me just that.
My $1500 C90 (well now closer to 1700 after additional upgrades and accessories) has never failed me and I pray it never does. So /cheer Asus for the C90 series. I look forward to seeing the future and I hope for better graphics cards please![]()
Oh and one last thing: No more hate threads on the C90. Every time there is an evil post about the C90, someone's vista gets a bluescreen.

I also wanted the C90 for work and for games.
I ended up using it A LOT for gaming this semester. I have a 1.5 hour gap between classes and i didnt feel like going home and then coming back. So i played a mixture of call of duty 4 and battlefield between the classes and it was absolute heaven.
I also took a web design class which supplied Gateway tablet notebooks. They were very NEW but man were they slow! Eventually me and another buy started bringing in our own notebooks to use. His was one of the 17" gateways with the 8600M. Mine was noticeably faster than his. I had headaches usingn those gateways and there were many sighs and grunts in the class at using them. I mean this 100%: I would have made a lower grade in that class if it werent for my C90S. I am a very obsessive person and if I had to use the slow gateways I wouldnt have even bothered finishing some of the assignments. I found out that many others in the class felt the same way and made lower grades. I was very enthused at using my C90 in that scenario and it got me though it. i often bring my C90 with me whenever i need to use a school computer. I will just get the programs we use on the school lab computers and preload it on my c90s. It really takes a lot of the stress out of things. The C90S cpu/gpu combination for power is excellent! Even the problems ive encountered with it dont negate the fact that its a great value. I was even inspired enough to make a different autoinstall program for it. Its in the forums btw.
I can only hope that Asus makes improvements on the C90P which im sure they will. The C90S had its problems but I feel confident that the C90P will be an improvement, and therefore i will be purchasing it when it is released. -
I thought mine was the **** at first, then I started realize it was a gimmick ( for me ). I was like hell yeah desktop processor, totally awesome...but for me, it didn't do anything except make it hotter and louder. The HD constantly ran at like 50C and was extremely uncomfortable to use the keyboard and game on it...always used to carry a mini fan around to LAN parties and stuff. I think it's great for people that need a laptop like a mobile workstation, or just need the extra power, but I should have researched more and realized what I needed ( a desktop anyways, which I have now

Yeah I would have gotten a desktop it's just I do 3 months of college, 3 months of work which includes business travel so I end up bringing my computer around a lot. Desktops are far better if you don't move often but since I often go home every other weekend and move around to people's houses and apartments on campus it really helps.
The best solution is probably a sweet desktop for the dorm and a crappy beater laptop for taking notes and doing papers but I don't have that ind of time/space. But if your C90 just kinda sits and never moves it defeats the purpose. -

Well, I'm selling my C90S.
It is a great machine with awesome CPU performance but I bought a 17" DR laptop which I think is a better notebook specification for what I need right now.
There is also no convenient way of overclocking the CPU and running the memory at its max 667Mhz under Linux.
And since I am using Linux 90% of the time I thought a different machine might be better suited for me but it is nonetheless one of the best laptops I've ever owned and I will surely miss it (a lot!!!).
I will still look out for future ASUS C90 models though.
I sure hope the next models will have a bios overclocking feature for us Linux users!
PS: I also nearly made a C90S website http://c90series.co.nr <- this was my progress so far -
I like mine. I can't wait to take it for school (August 25th....). I can't wait to see the fans starting for no reasons in the middle of a philosophy/french class

Actually mine has been remarkably well behaved in classes

I'm looking forward to the days when this is classified as a "crappy beater"
I struggled significantly with RAM Issues which then gave me a corrupted install of Vista
Once I got the RAM issues resolved, I have been completely pleased with this machine. Hopefully soon I'll get to test it as a portable HD source for blu-ray and HD-DVD.
Cheers, -
i need ram and a new wireless card and if those fix my problems i will be in love with my laptop. when it's running correctly it's a beast. i think it shut down in about 7 seconds earlier today. i also take mine to school every single day and its showing signs of the wear and tear after not even a year, i think i got it all up and going right around the beginning of September. I am missing a fan grill, the mic input it destroyed(apparently the metal cover came off so it doesn't work now), the scroll pad paint is starting to come off.
i just need to get off my butt and get the wireless taken care of and order some ram...

please PM me if you have a ram recommendation... ya ya ya search button ya ya ya

I completely love my C90 now. I carry it with me every time I go to class to do some programming or to design games in Flash. I was psyched when I got it last November even with the occassional BSOD. It got really bad in March though when BSODs constantly interrupted me. Luckily spring break was around the corner and that gave me time to switch to Vista Business x86. Apache, MySQL, and PHP worked a lot better with it.
As far as my other reason for getting a C90, which was its promise of being upgradeable, I'm having my doubts. I hope Asus comes through, otherwise I'll try another manufacturer when the time comes for me to get a new laptop. -

The only REAL way atleast the only good way to get working ram 100% is to buy the unit from a reseller like Gentech and have them install the ram for you and they will test it, from there if you have any problems they are liable and will replace it free of charge. -
A look back on my C90
