I'm in the US, but I don't see a problem in buying from the UK... I've done it before and have always recieved my product.

on www.hardwareluxx.de are also news about the new G1 and G2:
    http://www.hardwareluxx.de/story.php?id=4848

the article tells a little bit about the configuration of the NBs:

    Core 2 Duo
    2GB RAM (either 533MHz or 667MHz)
    80GB - 160GB HDD
    DVD multiburner
    Intel 945 PM Chipset
    WiFi 802.11 a/b/g
    1.3MP Webcam
special OLED-Screen (above the actual screen), that can show information about incoming emails or the status of the computer
    backpack
    Logitech MX-518

    G1 with a GeForce 7700 go
    G2 with a Mobility Radeon x1700

In my opinion are the videocards somewhat disappointing for a gaming notebook.

The graphics card for the 17inch IS disappointing. Many places like sager and even Dell offer a 7950 gtx for their 17 inch laptops. The 15 inch is anything BUT a disappointment in regards to video card. The 7700 is the top of the line graphics card in regards to those available for that screen size. You probably won't find anything better until DX10 cards are available for laptops.

I hope this rumor is true...I keep teetering between the W3J and the G1P...the screen size and low end proc on the W3J has turned me off but I love its look and build quality. I'm hoping the G1 turns out to be the laptop I really want and that I won't have to wait too long for it.

Pevelg I totaly agree, Asus needs to get with the times, x1600 is tops in their brands thus far?? and now they are calling these G1 and G2 gaming laptops with a x1700 (no real differents from an x1600) or Nvidia 7700 gaming laptops? The 17" sager 5760 with a Nvidia 7950 GTX 512mb card would blow away these new so called gaming machines from Asus, LOL

Well to be fair the Asus models are still laptops where as the other ones are really desktop replacements. The Asus models actually have some useful battery life.

I think we should wait for Justin, or Danny, or Eddie to comment.

I agree with you, loopty, the ones from Dell, Sager or Alienware are just full fledged monsters not capable to do anything but game on the desk. But I also think that Asus should put in better video cards than just the X1600 or X1700 models.
