I am 90% sure I am buying this notebook. I just have one question: Which warranty should I go with?
    - 2 years free (same coverage as manufacturers 1 yr warranty)with Visa credit card (can get notebook fixed anywhere, just send them the bill and they reimburse me)

    - 3 years Visa Extended Performance warranty for $114 (covers all parts/repairs, battery replacement, no lemon policy)

-3 years Asus Extended warranty for $120 (requires me to ship notebook out I believe)

I do not have experience with Visa warranty plans so thats why i need input. plus there is the dilemma of 2 years free vs paying $120 bucks for an extra year coverage?? Please help.

We offer the third year warranty extension for 89$ on our Z71V. You would need to ship it to us though. We would ship it back however.

John - when are you expecting the units to arrive and be ready to customize? Thank you.

We are expecting them to hit US shores either tomorrow or Monday. Then it will take 5 days to get to us. We do a 24 hr burn-in to test components, then we ship.

Yeah.. what they do (AMEX too) ... if you have a problem outside the warranty...... you send it to whoever to fix it... they charge you.. then you submit that bill to visa... kind of like an insurance claim.

    Thanks,
    Justin

smilepak, you have to have a certain visa card for it, I am at work right now but when I get home I can give you the number for visa and u just give them your card number and they can tell you if it qualifies. I have a visa with usbank that qualifies, and then I have a new CapitalOne Go Miles card (one that says Visa Signature on front) which qualifies. Basically when you recieve laptop you call the number that I will post, and then they tell you to send copy of receipt and some other stuff so it is on record (isn't mandatory to do this part but it is recommended just so it is easier when you do have a claim) then if something happens within the first year you go through manufacturer, second year you can take anywhere to get repaired and you send them the bill. They reimburse you, but whne uyou have a claim you have to call them before you get it repaired.
The extended warranty they offer is also better than Asus/manufacturer one. It covers battery replacement on laptops (cell phones also and some other stuff), so when life cycles go bad, you can call them up and claim. Also there is a no lemon policy and it covers everything (not accident coverage though). 3 year was $114, 4 year was $178 I believe for a $2000 laptop. Hope this helps, and man thanks for the responses! I think I will stick with Visas free coverage and just upgrade one of the components with that money saved. Also I will post that phone number when I get home so you can check if your card has it.

    Interesting....

Sound like a great deal. I wonder if it covers LCD damage.

I believe it does cover LCD, they told me it covers the whole notebook if anything goes wrong, but not if you damage by your own fault. Heres that number:
