That would be, in laymans term, a hybrid drive... Best of both worlds but not better than having both together..IMO

I have an A3 and it is pretty snappy, but not as instant as a SSD main drive...

I may actually still pick up a 160gb drive to use for the OS and keep the extra Momentus XL as a spare...

A3 is a waste of money in my oppinion. Those hybrid drives cannot compare to real SSDs in speed (not to mention they only have 4gb of flash storage, which is much too little to do anything).
Buy an A1 or A2 and spend the remaining money youd spend on those hybrid drives in the A3 on a X25-M G2 160GB.
And you will have the best SSD for ultimate speed and one large 500GB HD for storage for the same price.

If you plan on getting an SSD, hold on to that thought for now...you already have a hybrid. why do you want to buy an SSD and use the momentus as your storage drive?. buy an SSD when the space/price ratio is more favorable and use the hybrid till then..Seems like a better idea to me.

Id also wait in your case for the Intel G3 drives that are supposed to be released in Q4 this year. They should be cheaper and larger and perhaps a bit faster, since they will be made in a smaller production process (25nm or 28nm as ive read - the current G2 ones are 34nm).
