    1) Am I right in assuming the M6A is a better buy than the A3A, in reliability, build and performance. There's only a $100 difference in price. (I am intending to buy from www.dse.co.nz and my criteria are set out here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=46028)

    2) Out of curosity. The M6A also mentions having an "Intel 915GM Embedded VGA" which I understand is good but the A3A doesn't. Instead it talks about an "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900". Does that mean the A3A doesn't use this chipset? I researched both terms but ended up more confused than ever!

    3) I assume both the A3A and the M6A are ensemble models since they don't start in z. Or at least they are not "built-on" models.

One final point. I appreciate both the A3A and the M6A have more grunt than I really need.

This is my first notebook so any help appreciated. I've read the FAQs etc but it's still very confusing.

    Thanks in advance.

hi again. here's what you'll be getting for $100 more

    M6A > A3A
    Pentium M 750 (1.86 Ghz) > Pentium M 740 (1.73 Ghz)
EDIT: Intel 915 = Intel 900 (thanks Underpantman. the 915 is based on the 900)
    80 Gb 5400 rpm HDD > 80 Gb 4200 rpm
    15.4" WXGA or WSXGA > 15.0 XGA
    2.6 kg weight < 2.8 kg weight
    22-34 mm thickness < 27-38 mm thickness

summary: faster processor, better/newer integrated graphics (haha), faster hard drive, larger screen, lighter, larger screen, and thinner overall.

the only thing that the A3A has over the M6A is the bluetooth, if you use bluetooth that is. and it is not widescreen (if you hate widescreen).

The intel 915=intel 900, see here.

But essentially the difference is in the design and styling of the notebook. Given that its only 100 I would get the higher spec's of the M6.
