I recently got a A53SV from Amazon. The laptop itself is great, but I'm having one issue with it.
The ELAN touchpad doesn't allow the use of both buttons at the same time. Normally, you would never need to do this, but in first-person shooter games such as Battlefield 3, the right mouse is zoom and the left mouse is fire, so you definitely need to use them both at times. Another example would be that in some MMO's (such as Star Wars - The Old Republic) you can hold both buttons to rotate around your character while running.
So far, I've tried both uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling the latest ones from the website. I've also tried some newer ELAN drivers for some of the other ASUS laptop models. Neither worked in letting me use both buttons at the same time.
The only thing I've found that let me do it was to switch the mouse driver to Standard PS2 Mouse. After rebooting, I'm able to use both buttons in games. However, I lose all the cool ELAN features like two-finger zoom, etc.
Anyone run into this problem or know how to fix it, or is it just the way it is?

Quick update. I called ASUS support about the issue. The rep on the phone said that this mousepad does not support pressing both buttons at the same time. I'm not quite sure I agree, since it works just fine when you uninstall the ELAN drivers. I asked her to submit an enhancement request to the ELAN driver creators to fix it in a future release. Not sure if that will help or not.

I can't believe so few people have mentioned this. It has such a huge impact on FPS games where you need to aim with right click and shoot with left click, but can only do one at a time.
That a company would release modern drivers that don't even support simultaneous clicking when the device is perfectly capable of it just blows my mind. I've got a Samsung RF711-S05CA that has an Elan touchpad and I had the same issue as you. I replaced the driver with the standard Windows driver and voila, simultaneous clicking. Of course I lost all scrolling/zooming/multitouch abilities by doing this... but I still think simultaneous clicking trumps all that.
I'm all for using a bluetooth mouse when I can, but sometimes you're in a spot where the touchpad is the only practical solution. I hope they someday fix this with a driver update but I won't keep my fingers crossed -
Yep, it's really frustrating. I've basically been forced to use a mouse with playing games, because I don't want to lose the multitouch scrolling for when I'm not playing a game. Very annoying!

I'm also surprised that this issue exists on a laptop that is so new. I really hope that someone is able to make a workaround or they release an updated driver that allows you to keep all the functionality of the multi-touch and use both buttons at the same time. I kinda bought this computer so I could play games on the go and this defeats a large portion of that potential.
